Went from changing gear with a bit of a jiggle to not being able to select and gear.
Turns out there is a grub screw holding the gear stick bush thingy to a little shaft that enters the gearbox.
10mm socket with extension will sort the four bolts, would be difficult with Spanners. So glad I had a 1/4” socket set.
5mm Allen key to re-secure the bush to the shaft.
Re-assemble, just make sure the end of the gearstick ends up in the bush or you’ll be pulling the cover of a second time. The bride has a little saying for these time
Will pull apart when home and loctite the grub screw in.
Big shout out to Tony ‘jboot’ he was kind enough to pull the gear leaver housing off a spare box to confirm what was inside.
Funny thing was the bride was having all sorts of troubles changing gears yesterday and I didn’t dare to chip her about about her poor driving ability.......given I had few runs under my belt.
Anyway we made the 80th birthday on time.
