3.6 viscous fan, which way thread??

Looking to do my belt, idlers and tensioner on an 08 TDV8 3.6 first time (not BMW mtr), and can see not much room in there and harder to get in than on a TDV6.
I have the tool to fit the nut, but can anybody say for certain, which direction the viscous fan nut turns to be undone.
Have been told "ALWAYS" in the direction the fan turns, then others say "always" left hand thread (which I have found not ot be "always" so).
So before I end up tightening it, can anybody say for certain which way to undo the nut?

Thanks for reply that appears to be correct (thank you).
I have trawled through a .pdf manual and that says left hand thread, which as I look from front would mean that nut does indeed undo in direction that the fan turns.
Will now go and try to free it.
