for those that read general chat would know I have MSA (Multiple System Athrophy)
My passion is fishing in my boat, but since getting diagnosed I am unable to persue this passion due to my now limited mobility.
I found a charter boat mob that has wheel chair access and have booked a 7hr bread and butter fish fishing trip with a couple of mates to come as well to help me.
the king george whiting have been the best for 13 yr this season I've been told.
weather permitting on the 30th jan, i am going, i haven't fished for about 2 years .
I'm looking forward to it but also anxious about it as I don't know how i'll going sitting in a wheel chair for 7 hrs straight.
it's not glamour fishing but it's what is avail for wheel chair users, and KGW are fantastic on the chew.

Top stuff Mario. Maybe get your planner to make it a monthly therapy session.
Hope the weather is kind to you.

lets just see how i get over this one 1st.
I own a FB fishing group page and many members have offered help if I was able to take my boat out.
I would like to take the old girl out at least 1 more time, it just sits in the driveway taunting me.
if I can get it towed to the water , launched , my mate is not very good a backing the trailer down the ramp yet, and somehow get me lifted into the boat, it might be a possibilty.
I just bought a second hand fold up wheel chair that fits in the back of the car the I could sit in the boat with a couple strong carers. So this charter is the test first.

Regardless of the amount of fish you catch at least you will be out on the water with a line/rod in your hand, Good on you[thumbsupbig]
If I was closer I would take you out on my boat or yours in a heartbeat.

This is great news! I hope it works out well. Hopefully after the initial trip, you can be specifically catered for so the next trips will get better.

Fantastic news, Mario. Hey, I'm not too bad at backing trailers you know, although it would help if there were two...

Just being on the water would be incredible therapy.

Have you met Mario?? He's a stubborn coot. I've offered help many times, and I live 5 mins from him. He's a big bloke, and I couldn't lift him, but I'd drive him, and his boat, pretty much anywhere. Mario is good people.

looks like the rain is here for nearly 2 weeks. It's not the rain itself, but the runoff in the estuary, it washes down debris from it's feeders and dislodges weed and sea grass.

It also makes the prawns "Run" and the mulloway congregate, The runoff is not All Bad [thumbsupbig]
We have a cyclone brewing up north and the movement of that system will dictate when I will be putting the boat into the water.
The Bluebone are on the chew at the moment and I am keen to get amongst them But whenever there is a cyclone up north we get screaming SE winds (20-30kts) and it gets stinking hot So I will also be waiting until this system blows over before I venture out.
I am sorry to hear that your trip got cancelled this time But don't despair the fish will still be there for you to catch next time[thumbsupbig][bigrolf][bigrolf]
