In all honesty just as easy if not easier to wash in a tub with rope wash, and then loop and hang to dry in a net loop. Several years old with crud and coroded Karabiners??? That is very ordinary and extermely dangerous. I would not use a rope even if like brand new that was older than 5 years and if used regularly in recreation less than that and inustrial any older than 3 years. We destroy ropes and Karabiners like that. Ropes should be cleaned as soon as praticable after they are dragged or left in the dirt or other contaminants. Have to ask this guy "What is your life really worth?".
Obviously this guy has no real comprehension on rope safety. There could be untold damage to the kernal of the rope that is not visible through the mantle (outer sheath).
That really scares me.

Actually my comprehension of rope safety is just fine. I hardly see what claiming I am un-safe with my rope handling practices has to do with an alternative method to cleaning (besides just using a bucket...)
