Guys... Does anyone know if u can just buy a starter solenoid on its own w/o having to buy the complete starter motor?

My starter solenoid on my 300tdi Defender is on the way out and I've got a planned trip in March, so I'd like to get it sorted b4 I head off...

Also, can u replace the solenoid with the starter in place or do u need to remove the starter?

thanks in advance

I have bought a bearmach solenoid for a bearmach starter motor on my 96 D1 300tdi. You may need to check what make of starter motor you have though. I think the original is bosch?

Cheers... for that...

I was able to purchase a Bosch unit and finished installing it late yesterday... The Bosch unit sounds quite different upon starting - a lot quieter I think
