Gday All,
Has anyone recently ( and is it possible ) to tow an dual axle offroad caravan from marla to marree then down to Hawker in the flinders ranges area - Would be looking at around june or july assuming the weather would be good for travel that time of year.
Thanks Bulletman

Certainly possible, but check road conditions just prior as the surface can be anything from highway grade to diabolical corrugations (and that's just in the first 10 km[bigwhistle]).
I have to admit we chickened out 18 months ago and drove partway without the van, and also flew over the area to see the water in the wee lake.

Give the Pink Roadhouse at Oodnadatta a call closer to the time of travel would be your best shot.

g'day Bulletman.
Are you turning off the Stuart Highway at Marla then travelling the Oodnadatta track to Maree?
I do the Oodnadatta track often twice a year and have done for over 20yrs.
I don't tow but meet many people who do and no one really has problems on the track.
I drop my tyre pressures to 25 on all the SA desert roads and drive to conditions , but thats your personal choice. 80kmh should be comfortable with a van on that track.
You know all about towing on outback roads anyway , it's easy to have a good break at Oodnadatta and similarly at Marree...more to see and do there. Lyle Makes a great hamburger with the lot.
If you haven't done the Flinders Ranges before, take your time , stop and look at every feature you have time for.....its unique and worth spending as much time as possible there.
