Hi Folks,
I am laid up at the moment, I had skin cancer removed from my leg and I am supposed to be resting with my leg elevated. Bloody hard to work on your P38 like that. Anyway the only thing I could come up with was to work out how to wire in an override switch to turn on the condenser fans. From what I can see I will need to fit a change over relay to each circuit and earth the left fan and power up the right fan. Has any one else done this modification?
Also is there anything special I need to know about posting photos. While I have some spare time I was going to have a go at posting a story about the head unit I have fitted. And maybe some photos of the switch pack I have fitted. I am also making a gauge pod to fit on top of the dash without drilling holes all over the dash.
Regards,
Alan

Nothing special about posting photos. Use the appropriate button above the message area.

Re the fans, I seem to recall they are connected in series for half speed and parallel for full speed.

Hi P38arover, yes they are series/parallel wired. I am also thinking I will run the fans on low speed all the time the compressor is running. It might help up here in Queensland. For this I will need another change over relay. I think I will post a wiring diagram if I can translate from Alan scribble to something legible. Thanks for the advice on posting. I will give it a try a bit later.
Regards,
Alan

I can’t remember if the fans turned on when the compressor ran. They certainly turned on with the AC in my RRC.

Yes with the P38 the HEVAC unit decides when the fans come on. So that is why I would to have more control. Also I have a big boat to tow, so I would be good to be able to turn the fans onto high speed when you see a big hill coming up with the boat on the back.
