Hello All,
What do you drink as your favourite Non-Alcoholic summer-time thirst quenchers?
It reached a high here of 38.6 degrees Celsius in what has so far been a non-event La Niña for our district this summer.
As a thirst quencher I make a mix of Bickford's Lemon Juice Cordial and sparkling mineral water.
Bundaberg Brewed Drinks and Schweppes used to make a bitter lemon soft drink. The word "bitter" always used to be an understatement. However, it used to knock out a thirst after drinking: water, milk, tea, iced tea, and juice
I also get the Zooper frozen cordial sleeves.
What are your summer-time non-Alcoholic thirst quenchers?
Kind regards
Lionel

Zooper Doopers are a site requirement when it’s hot!
Zero Sugar Lime On ice is my current drink.
Prefer it to booze too.

SanPellegrino Arancianta Rossa or Pompelmo sparkling mineral water. That's blood orange or grapefruit for the uninitiated. Not too sweet, not sticky, not too fizzy, just lovely Italian refreshment.

From my Africian days the drink in the plus 30 to 45 degrees C days was a Malawi shandy , half ginger beer, half ginger ale ,dash od biiters and sometimes small dash of worcestershire sauce served in ice cold glass,or add gin etc to make alcoholic version it really was amazing ,there are other versions of this from country to country in Southern Africa.

Cold Schweppes Indian Tonic Water with Claytons (about 10% to 20% depending on your taste).
I'm annoyed that I cannot get Mynor GI lime cordial anymore :-(

Hello All,
Thank you for all your contributions. I was really interested in Sashadidi's Malawi Shandy... well right up to the point of the "sometimes Worcestershire sauce" bit. Hmmm.
Another drink that used to work for me was Ward's Fruit Saline - which no supermarket here seems to stock any more. Cottee's used to make a similar saline too. This also has not been stocked on the local shelves for a long time. Salvital is alternative to the two other "Fruit Salines".
Kind regards
Lionel

Quality Indian tonic,
Where does one get such a thing? Schweppes sure as hell don't make it anymore. Unless there are still some little bottles around somewhere.

Huh?? I would have thought that a cuppabillytea might have been your tipple.
Actually, weak black tea ( hot ) is about as refreshing as it gets. Ask the Saudis.

The moniker has nothing to do with my choice of beverage. I do like a hot black tea though, but not to quench a big thirst.

and in IGA
G'day Ian,
Plenty elsewhere; not here in Bundaberg though. I would have to place a special order for the local supermarkets of either variety. Wait a number of weeks for the order to arrive. Blah ... blah.
When I visited relatives in Tamworth I used to go to the IGA and stock up on Ward's Saline. I suppose I could get a "relief pack" sent to me!
Kind regards
Lionel

Beer is my prefered option But not a great idea if you are working or driving[bigwhistle]

Water or cordial usually. Don't mind an ice cold coke or solo.

That was the point of my question, Ian. I can't find any tonic water that matches what Schweppes used to make, or what I have had overseas. It's mostly lolly water, less quinine and way more sugar.

Fever Tree, either Indian or Mediterranean depending on the gin it's going with. Half the sugar of the Schweppes and much nicer.

At $8.72 a litre, I'd be expecting them to come and pour it for me.

Hello All,
Being the inquisitive sod that I am .. I had a gekko at Fever Tree... Here is a critique about it. Looks like it has some selectively sourced ingredients ...; accessed 23rd February 2021 from, Review: Fever-Tree Mediterranean Tonic Water - Drinkhacker (https://www.drinkhacker.com/2012/10/21/review-fever-tree-mediterranean-tonic-water)

Yeah, it's not what it used to be that's for sure - I buy the sugar free stuff myself.

You get what you pay for. Life’s too short to waste good gin on crap tonic water.

Nah, that's a personal choice. No gin makes tonic taste bad, but crap tonic makes everything taste bad.
