Hi all - first post from me.
Ive recently been diagnosed with rangerover-itis. Im told its untreatable and I should just embrace it, so after a lifetime of admiring/wishing, Ive decided to buy.
My budget puts me in L494 territory.

The options I am currently looking at are (prices are list price without any negotiation having taken place):

2015 MY15.5 SDV8 HSE with 112000 on the clock @$86k
2015 MY16 SDV6 HSE with 47500 on the clock @$77k
2015 MY15.5 SDV6 HSE with 45000 on the clock @$80k

All three have Full LRSH and are in one of the colours I want and have meridian. One of the V6's also has a pano roof (which was on the wishlist but isnt a deal breaker).

My heart is sending me racing towards the SDV8, but it has double the mileage of the other two.... so I need some help/advice.

This will be my first RR, its a lot of cash, and I dont want the dream to come crashing down on me or wish Id made a different decision.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated - thanks.

I’ve only bought LRs with higher km than cars in your list, so none of those would concern me.

The SDV8 is nice but no 2 on the list seems the best value, considering age & km and assuming everything else being roughly equal across those cars.

Rear diff lock and electronic speedo/dash would be features that would draw me in.

Don't drive the SDV8 if you think the kms are too high.

Heart overtakes head, right? It's why I've NEVER driven one.

As an SDV 8 owner I would go for the V8 diesel, it will hold value better for longer and in the end will turn out a better buy.

Mechanically the V8 is a better engine and if you want to tow is superior. These motors are good for more miles than the rest of the car components. If you look at diesel engines 70,000 engine hours is expected life , so divide the mileage by 70 or 80 and you have the engine life used to date.

The 4.4 is much less stressed than the 3.0, with longevity a design criteria. Compare the power outputs per litre capacity.

Do you need to check which ones are proper 4wds or just AWD or back then was it still the good old days when all RRS were proper 4wds.?

True, some L494s don’t have dual range transfer cases.
