This year, 2021 AS (After Scotty) brings new faces, new places and new allegiances.
Allegiances are influenced by various things, driver, team owner, car make, livery or sponsor.
I'm changing my allegiance this season. After returning to Ford/Dicky after Scott moved from Volvo, I'm raising a few eyebrows by now getting behind Holden. Scotty, Dick and Ford ticked three boxes for me, when Volvo pulled the pin. Now Scott's moved on to bigger things, I had no difficulty in getting behind Giz.
Giz is a master of his craft and in many ways held down by his good mate Scott. Hopefully this year will be Giz's, he's never been anything but a gentleman, gracious in defeat and humble in victory.
Go Giz!

Don't hold the Commodore trolley against him.

Commodore?? The things bear about as much resemblance to Commodores and Mustangs as I do to Serena Williams.

Nothing to do with the Opel. He has been known to be "very" aggressive at times. [biggrin]. All part of the ego and the game but over the top on occasion IMHO.

He's on pole. [smilebigeye]
Aggressive? It's all part of the sport, never has a granny won the ATCC. [bigwhistle]

Never been into the biffo side of motorsport. Spent 3 seasons with the HQs and got pretty tied of repairing the damage and I was not paying the bills ( just part of the team).

Gemini were the same, I imagine not much has changed with the Excels.

I'm similar, a huge Scotty fan, and I like Ryan Story but I've never been a Ford fan and I've never been a DJR fan. Actually when I was a kid working at the track, Dick used to have a reputation for being a whinger. There was a dead tree at Amaroo after you come off the hill, we always thought if anyone was going to hit that tree it would be Dick. He never did hit that tree that I know of. Bowe was a moving chicane also when his tyres went off, and his excessive blocking, although fair in racing and a part of the craft which he was excellent at, I always thought was really poor form. Hence my dislike for DJR.

I also think SVG isn't a gentleman on the track, that is reserved for people like Brock and Richards, but SVG I think is far closer to the other end of the scale. Actually I think SVG gets hot under the collar and when push comes to shove... he is also not backward in giving a shove and can be unsporting when under pressure. I think he has a temper that isn't well controlled and I think that he has been hammered and trained by the team to get that temper under control which is why he walks away off track when the proverbial goes down. Check his reaction compared to SM's when it goes bad. BUT, I think SVG works incredibly hard at his driving skills and he is ongoing with that, and likewise with his race craft and he is currently the best driver in the field. My opinion is that this year will be his best year in the championship and at Bathurst and that will because he is driving better than ever, the pressure is off with SM gone which will curb is hot head, he is in a tier1 team, his engineer isn't exactly Ludo Lacroix but he isn't far off it and the DJR team (or any other team) I don't think will apply the same consistent competitive pressure which they have faced in the past.

I'm backing SVG for a clean sweep of the championship and Bathurst. I think he will be main man for quite a while into the future now. Well, at least until they move across to the Camaro and the who knows... but what I do know is that Roland Dane will do exactly the same to the Camaro as what they did with the current Commodore and try to get every conceivable design advantage that they can get, which they will. RD will say the other have to catch up and then he will bitch when the next Mustang comes out and is faster again and get it hauled back.

For a display of SVG's current level, watch his drive through the field in the second race of the recent NZ GP on YouTube. Ok, he had the best setup and prep, but you still have to steer and brake the thing.
Respect.

Dunno 'bout that..

for this year the actual DRIVER has to concern himself with knowing when his or her brakes have locked, (or on some cars- even NEAR locked)

seems computers did that for them previously....

Hmm whats that funny burning smell?

[tonguewink]The Toyota Racing Series open wheelers Pedro?
That's what they run for the NZ GP.

If they've been running ABS in the V8's that's sad. [emoji17]
Lost touch with what's what and the tech specs in most all racing series these days.

There was a convo between Frank Dernie (ex Williams, Benetton and I think Ligier engineer) and Gordon Murray that Frank recounted where they both agreed the best thing F1 could do was go back to 3 pedals and H pattern gearboxes to spice the racing up. The thinking being the odd missed shift gave passing opportunities, and those that can two pedal the 'box had a skill not everyone can master whereas anyone can flick a flappy paddle [emoji849]
I'd love to see that. [emoji16]
