"Hidden" coolant hose leak

Gday folks

I had a leak from what I think is the "hidden" hose. It was badly cracked and a right PITA to get off. It was beneath and behind the exhaust manifold. It seems to have to different size ends. One is about 20mm inner diameter and the other is about 15mm inner diameter.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement without having to get the whole radiator hose kit? All the other hoses look to be in pretty good nick. I think they were all replaced by the PO except this one.

Searched the forums here and found an old post about T.R Spares at Padstow. 2 hoses ordered. $5 a piece. Now I have a spare. Just waiting on delivery by courier.

In an update, this hose is blanked off, depending on the radiator type you have.
Later radiators don't have the oil cooler return lug on the lower driver side side tank, so the hose gets blanked(as in the image in the link).

Onebob also handily uploaded the tech update sheet too.

For further info on the updated setup, there are other threads re this oil cooler hose blanking mod .. but like I said, I think it all depends on what radiator type you have, and being an old vehicle now chances are that the radiator may have been changed .. possibly to the modern type where the lower ports are blanked off.

Years ago I was told and found the stepped ford falcon heater hose is the same diameters, just trim the hose to length. Available at most of the regular Repco, Burson type outlets.

I've got two hoses in from T.R Spares. $5 each. It'll give me a spare just in case. They've just arrived so it's installation time.

I'll also check to my radiator. If I can block it off I'll seriously consider it. It looks like a fairly new radiator and all the other hoses are pretty new. It took me a couple of hours to get the old one off. Most of that was removing the heat shield on the exhaust manifold though. That bolt underneath the shield holding the bracket onto the manifold was tough. With a lot of swearing and penetrating oil I finally got it.

While I'm at it I might as well do a proper flush of the system.

On the rear of the heat shield, I cut a notch, so that you leave the bolt in place. It makes it easier to remove and place the heat shield.

I tossed the cursed thing into the waste metal bin 9 years ago - no ill effects at all since dispensing with it [emoji1417]

Do check that the radiator end isn't already blocked. If it's a new style radiator it probably is.
