Looking at buying a low K's 2002-3 Disco V8. I would appreciate any info regarding (if any) gremlins to be aware of prior to purchase.

G'day Maggsie,
Mine is a little earlier being a 2000 model, my only issue is that is seems to have the bermuda triangle somewhere in the fuel system....
I put petrol in..... and it just disappears:p.
Seriously though... I've had no real grief at all..... great car.
You might want to give some thought to whether you want a Centre Diff Lock.... pretty sure most 2002 models don't have them. 2003 on will have one from factory, Older models like mine had the CDL in the case, but do actuator... easy aftermarket fix. 2001 - 2002(I think that time frame is right) ... nothing in the case... so pretty expensive to add. If you want to know more on that do a search on CDL here on the site..
Good luck with it...

I have had a few dramas with mine but it has mostly been dealer related in my area, mechanically mine is great. The one thing I have noticed though (Not sure if its my local dealers so called techs or not) but mine seemed to be chewing rear main seals, I have since found out it could be rocker covers because some "techs" mistake that for a rear main seal  will find out in a couple of weeks about that when I get mine back

They should all be put in a pit and left to diagnose the way out

The V8 in a good sense is an old-tech engine and no fancy quad-cam rubbish to deal with and the basic design hasn't changed. I would only buya V8, mainly because I hate diesels.
I wouldn't mind a D2 to flog off-road, just waiting for ther 03 models to drop to less than 18K before I consider replacing my 87 Rangie. But then, I'll have everything I want fitted to ol' bluey so it may never happen

I had a leak on P38A and my local LR specialists said to check the rocker cover bolts as they loosen off.
Yep. They sure had. I tightened them up and all's well.
I had to borrow a 1/4" drive socket off them because the bolts are 12 point (the usual double hex seen on sockets) but every 1/4" drive socket I own is hex. :(
