We have never had a problem with these lights coming on like others have, but on the way home tonight I was braking & the 3 said lights came on with a ding ding alarm from the dash. I go !@#$%^!@#$% & pulled over.
I switch the car off start it again, lights are gone, off we go, not 4 minutes later without touching the brake this time, on come the lights & the ding ding alarm once again sounds from the dash.
I give it the you %$#@!&%$#@! again & put up with it till we got home, & here I am asking your advice.
Last time changed the tyres back over I checked the pads & the was ok (about 1/4 left) but the rotors were badly worn, with a bad lip[ on them.
I checked them & they are to far gone to have machined, so I thought I would just stretch them a bit further then replace them & the pads in a couple of months.
Do you rekon this is anything to do with the problem, or is this just the dreaded land rover electricals.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

G'day Gidget,

I wouldn't be too surprised if that was part or all of your issue. I have had the lights come on like that maybe 6-8 times over the last few years. Only once - did it turn out to be a faulty wheel sensor - other times seemed to relate to crap getting in near the sensor - I think.. it was reset by roverland with the computer (as sometimes you will find a fault stays - doesn't go out like yours did by turning the ignition on and off). The advice I was given was reset it.. see what happens - if it keeps doing it fix what the computer says is buggered... often it does not repeat.

The other thing that happened to me that caused similar worry... that turned out an easy fix - was one of the nuts on the rubber mounts for the ABS modulator had come loose... meaning the modulator could move - lights and dings all over the place at random- till I found it:bat:

Hopefully yours is an easy one... but I wouldn't be too surprised if rotors and pads are maybe allowing enough movement to set the system into spasm mode:eek:

Good luck...
Mark

Hi Gidjet
I too have that lip on my discs which means they will need replacing next time around, the salesman(LR STEALER) actually pointed it out to me when I bought it,and who said car salesmen are AHOLES????
I wonder if the vibration from worn out/warped discs is triggering your problem.
This topic is very popular and gets re posted heaps.
Sofar so good with BlackBetty.
Hopefully all works out CHEAPLY,keep us informed.
Andrew
