Goodyear MTR and Size

Due for some new tyres and considering the Goodyear wrangler MTR's just wondering what kind of Km's people are getting out of them?? Also tyre size, how big can i go on a S2 Disco with SLS at standard height, dont mind cutting it close as some time in the near future (i hope) ide like to put a lift (maybe 2")

I have had Goodyear MTR on a previous vehicle and found them excellent.
Have had many sets of BFG Mudders and another set now but found the Goodyear MTR equally as good.

On my Disco series 2 TD5 with 2" OME lift and 2" spacer kit under SLS I run 265/75 BFG Mudders no prob. The Bruce Davis ECU upgrade was the best thing. It runs this size tyre nicely, without the ECU upgrade I think you would struggle a little when the going gets heavy.

I cant help with the size but i would recommend checking out the Wrangler MTR's. I think it was Camel Landy who told me that the general rule in the UK was that the BFG AT was the pick over the Wrangler AT but it was reversed with the mud tyres.

I am running an overall diameter of only 31 under my disco 1 and had to cut the guards, and thats with 2in lift springs. Matt

Yep... MTR a stonking tyre.

The only thing to look out for is that it's a 'Q' rating for speed which means it's limited to 93MPH. Fine for a Defender or Freebee but something to bear in mind for a Disco & RaRo.

I have had MT/R's on 2 Rangies and was happy with them. I would of bought another set recently for my 87 but I wasn't going to wait til Mid May-June at the time and risk going off-road with 205 slicks, hence how I ended up with the Dunlops.

I had 30K on my MT/R's and they still had about 11mm of tread all round. Only sour point is the price is a bit exxy and you need to shop around (I priced a 265/75 set of MT/R's at $320 a tyre :eek: ) but diidn't persist. I know I could of got them cheaper elsewhere though.

Yep you're right I do.
(although I exagerated a little. it's not really scary. In fact I am often doing 120 to overtake others. Actually it shakes at around 70km/hr.)

Just fitted Bilsteins and King springs to the rear.
Will do the front this weekend (ran out of time).
Already it is more comfortable, and seems to be more stable (less bouncing on the rough country roads).

Panhard rod bushes and maybe steering/track/drag rod thingy (the back one) ball joints are next. He's (Ralf) starting to show his age.
