Ok, went out to car this morning, no response to fob. Unlocked with key, opened door, alarm went off.[bigsad] Closed door and locked with key, alarm silenced. EKAd my way in, no prob, tried to start but the battery ( near new ) wouldn't quite start it, which explains the no open thingy. OK, hooked up to Ford with jumper, let run, went back out. No response to fob, red light and the S light from M+S fame both on, of course no start.
I have no Nanocom. Is there a way to get past this point? I'm off to buy new fob batts right now.

If there was some big parasitic current draw it could have killed the battery even if it's new then jumping it won't help, put in the ford battery and try with that or charge well the vehicle's battery if you can, for remobilisation you need a strong battery on the vehicle. No way around this other than EKA without nanocom to disable the alarm

Thanks. EKA let me in and tried to start it. I have a charger. I’ll swap them over, doesn’t take much to start the Ford.

The vehicle is open, and no alarm sounds. The battery is now fully charged. Should I now redo the EKA process from start? Lock the car first?

I think the original fob of a D2 is a bit of funny little piece. Although mine still works, I am sure one day if mine comes to the same situation like this I would be more than happy to get the car an aftermarket alarm system and easier to work on.

Just about the whole hassle that pxxx me off as one time I drove the D2a to local locksmith then they said NO, and they referred me to some other locksmith who then politely said NO WAY they could do with this car model. And to put more salt into the hurt, another day I came across another locksmith in a big plaza who declare them self to work with most of the cars, then he tried on his key readers and said NO he only could do with D3 and afterward.

It seems like there is not any good locksmith in Sydney for D2.

Mine did this a while ago, i had to resync the fob with the car using a nanocom. Been working as intended every since

It's simple with a Nanocom. I really, really wish I hadn't sold mine. I have to use the EKA process every time until I get to a Nanocom. All I can say is that I'm glad that I changed the EKA from 10 08 10 10 :bat: to 01 01 01 01 when I still had it!
I'm going to disable the security system and up the insurance[bigwhistle]

Don't worry about the insurance John, if anyone steals it, they'll bring it back PDQ.[wink11]

So, Nanocom today. Keys not detected. The codes were in there. Played for a bit, but nope. Disabled the security stuff so I can start the thing.... but, did the RF test and the keys were not detected, either of them.. New batteries in both.

So, does this suggest the receiver is dud? Also, could the security system be responsible for the flat battery? If I change the receiver do I need a Nanocom to sync it to the car?

I'd forgotten how much I love this car..

If the RF test fails with a working and programmed fob then the receiver or it's circuit is bad(provided te BCU is OK). The receiver is plug and play.

Thank you, SF. I'm not sure how to test the BCU, but all of its other functions seemed to work on the Nanocom at least. I was able to test all of the lights etc. I was able to disable the immobilizer. But RF test failed on two keys. New receiver it is, but I don't think even Mario has them.
