Does anyone know where I can get detailed functional information on my LR4 MY15.5 BMS?

eg
- How does the BMS work in my car and what does it actually do?
- Will the BMS protect a low voltage situation with main crank battery and still allow car start voltage? (ie if I leave car fridge connected via live rear accessory socket will it cut power to accessory socket before draining battery?)

Any help would be much appreciated.

voodoo magic! actually I would like to know what parameters it works on also as sometimes mine sits at a constant 14.7v charging and others it fluctuates wildly as low as 12.3v.

I can tell you it definitely wont protect your cranking battery. All it does it control the charge from the alternator,, adjusting for age and size of battery and loading. nothing more. you need an isolator to protect cranking and they're pretty cheap and easy to install.

Hi Hunter, a standard isolator will not work because they are designed to turn off at around 12.7v, which is the voltage level of a fully charged battery.
So soon after you turn off your motor, the isolator will turn off, and you will have virtually the same setup as you have now.
To do what you are trying to achieve you will need a Low Voltage Cut-Out device, like my ABG-25.
The ABG-25 has a number of voltage cut-out settings, and you can set it to cut out ( turn off ) at 12.0v.
12.0v is a safe voltage level that will allow you to use up to half the capacity of the cranking battery but still have a large reserve remaining in your cranking battery to be easily able to start your motor even on the coldest morning.
