I'm looking for a cam locking kit for M62 BMW V8, been watchin videos of the timing chain replacement and Vanos rebuild.
Wanting to know if any body around the Campbelltown area who might have this for loan and maybe some knowledge from time to time on the job ahead.

Thanks in advance.

Hans

You could try peak Performance in Parramatta who are BMW specialists.
I took my E36 M3 there and they seemed to know their stuff.

Wasn’t there a thread on here recently by someone who bought the tools and did his timing chain guides?

I’d like to do mine, too.

just purchased all the bits for mine and the Vanos rebuild.

I have sent a message off to the link and we'll see what they say about the hiring fee.

From what I have seen some of the Chinese kits are not good ( 50s kid) so was looking at getting the Germanautosolutions kit, still thinking about it. Once I replace the timing chain then I will have a starting point to look after my timing chain guides. Mine has done over 230K and no rattles or rough idling at this stage. But , not going to push it much longer, better to be safe than sorry.

Cheers

Knares, gussy, and FisherX on this forum have done theirs. The latter two appear to have bought the tools. Maybe you can hire the tools from them.

There is a Dutch bloke called Diagnosis Dan on You tube who specialises in fixing BMWs that nobody else can fix.
I recall that in one of his videos he found that there are two identical connectors on the RH side of the engine for double vanos.
If they are connected to the wrong vanos it causes a camshaft timing fault.
Maybe not your problem but you never know.
