Hi all, dropped the gearbox undercover this morning to do a AT fluid change, this pin was in the bottom L/H side of the tray. I have had a good look around but can not see anything obvious, can anyone tell me where it might have come from. I am just doing some last minute prep for a big trip in about a week so this is a worry.

Its the locking pin from the fuel pump belt tensioner, must have dropped it down the back when the belt was done.

Okay, thanks so much loanrangie, what a relief. So its a locking pin that is used as part of the belt changing process then removed. As you say the mechanic from the Adelaide dealer dropped it when they did the belts.

See how little it takes to make me happy, [smilebigeye] since Murphy and I are such best of mates I was sure that I was going to find out where that pin came from half way around the Bullita Stock Route in the Judbarra/Gregory National Park (NT) in a few weeks time[bigsad] Here I was thinking I would give LR Assist a bit of a challenge, happy not to try that one out.

I was curious as well and looked over many ZF drawings but could not see anything. Did not realise you meant the steel pan under not the actual trans pan! [bigwhistle]

I would have said that's just an allen key that someone has dropped, no part on the transmission looks like that. Learn something everyday. The cover plate for the trans is fibre reinforced plastic as std.
