Has anyone here fitted the Kings 9" Dominator lights?

Their specs are very good.

1 lux at 1400 mtrs is a lot of light.....

at the current advertised price there is nothing comes near.

I have about 1 lux at 250mtrs from a small (six lenses 18w mounted low) and a slightly larger (18 lenses mounted high) pair of light bars and that puts a big halo out in front of the vehicle , more than I need under any situation.

I just come back from my third big trip with this setup and cannot possibly consider needing any more light let alone 5 times more penetration.

Interested if anyone is using the Kings lights.....they are so cheap......and they are plug and play , only need to run your switch inside.

The price and specs look good, Dennis, but can you live with Rick 130 calling you a bogan? [wink11]
I might buy a pair, just to wind Rick up. [bigrolf]

They appear to yellow the lenses quite quicky Den.

And I think Ian secretly wants a Hilux, 80 Series or GU tray back with 35's [emoji849][emoji12][emoji23]

Put a set on the D1 about 5 years ago. I like them in the windy bush roads, highway not so much. In the parts of Vic I travelled to they were good, they showed so much more than conventional driving lights, and in particular lit up the eyes of the critters. On the highway they don't throw far enough to be helpful at 100, and the modern reflective road signs are actually painful ( Tombie will tell you that all LEDs are like that[bigwhistle]). So, it's horses for courses.

I reckon the newer ones will be better than mine, and I believe you can mitigate some of the negatives with filters.

And then there's the price.... And, Rick? My lenses haven't yellowed even a little.

I also have a LED bar. They have their uses.

Kings go yellow very quickly. And the glare is insane on the eyes.

Yep. Saw it. Looks good.

Five years, Mike. I'll take that at the price, and they aren't yellow yet.

Garaged? How often are they used?
Every kings light up here is stuffed after 12-18 months.

Garaged?

Lol, what's that?

But sure, they wouldn't get the UV you'd see. But, that's the thing, for a more casual user the things are fine.

I'm not interested in them myself , as I said in OP , the amount of light my lightbars project is far beyond my needs.

Tins , I dont know what spec your lights are compared to the new releases , but Kings claim 1 lux at 1400mtrs, thats a substantial amount of light , it means you can sit down and read a newspaper at night 1400mtrs from your vehicle.

As Tombie said the final quality is possibly not up to spec , but hell , you can probably afford to replace them every couple of years compared to cost of "leading" brands.

Anyway I like to discuss these things without being parochial.

I've never been impressed with driving lights except for the Korr lightbars I have now. I wasn't going to name them but what the heck?

I've been called a bogan for lesser things , eg I like flannos and surfer joes.

We've had a few sets down here. The reliability is good, although sometimes the deutsch plugs get a little loose or dry - just soldered the connections. Reflections on signs nearly burn the eyes, but on lonely roads that's not too much of an issue v the benefits. If you hit a roo, or get knocked around the farm, you've only lost a little, not a lot. We haven't found yellowing any worse than the standard car headlights - they are acrylic! Definitely value for money, and you don't cry when you break one.

Have had them on my Perentie for 3 years.
Yes they do yellow, but I have the defuser cover on so thats whats taking the UV hit.
I use the defuser mainly for offoad driving and I dont usally need the Spots for high way as my LED head light upgrade works well.
They also came with a clear cover.

Kings logo washes off with a bit of Turps ;)

I've had their 7" ones for 3 or 4 years. The lenses have yellowed a bit, but the car is never garaged. The price was great at the time, and I haven't regretted the purchase. They are a bit hard on the eyes if you do a lot of night driving, but we try to avoid that if we can.

Only real issue I had was with the supplied inline fuse. The holder actually melted (the fuse was still fine!). I replaced it with a resettable circuit breaker, and no problems since.

1 lux at 1400m sounds a bit like "marketing-speak" to me. But then again, it's not like they're the only 4wd accessory company to, shall we say, embellish the truth a bit, are they?

All in all, I'd still buy their products, but not because of the performance claims. Simply because they are at least as good as, and better than some of' the other products out there, and they are very keenly priced, and as Darryn said, if they get broken, it's not the end of the world for your budget.
