Hi all, sorry for the lengthy post and hanks in advance for any advice.
We drive a 2009 Freelander 2, 3 liter petrol. We've had an issue for the last few months where it would intermittently drive really rough, losing some power, chug and choke before picking back up again and driving like normal.
We had it at the mechanic (Greg Tunstall in QLD for anybody local), they ran it on the computer and found no errors. Suggested bad fuel and sold us some fuel additive. We used the additive until the bottle was empty with nothing but 98 fuel.
We did see some minor improvements but nothing dramatic. Next we had them change the spark plugs (120,000ks on original plugs).
They gave the car a glowing review, said everything was running well for them.
Now the car is occasionally cutting out. First it happened while driving on a few main roads, car completely loses power and shuts down. No error message, just put it in park and start it back up. Today it happened again when it couldn't make it up a hill. It lost power and when we turned it over and tried again it just couldn't cope with the incline. Put it in neutral and backed down the hill and swung into a driveway, started it up to head back down the hill and drove fine for the rest of the morning.
This is becoming something of a safety issue, not just an annoyance. Before I head back to the mechanic, would any of the knowledgeable folk on the forum have any ideas for me?
Sorry for the long post, but many thanks!
