Seems my drivers side exterior mirror has gone a sepia/ bronzy colour and seems the chromatic auto dimming glass is expensive to replace. So i thing non auto dimming glass will be the replacement option. Any one else had this happen?

Apparently the liquid in them leaks...

As far as I know the cheap heated ones on eBay work fine, but won't auto dim (obviously)

I ordered aa replacement glass from on of my suppliers non genuine, and the retaining clips are completely different as well as the size, the part number on box was correct but the mirror in box ids different. the female spade connector lugs are too big.
I followed some youtube removal how tos, but no success I ended up breaking the glass.

Warning the liquid inside from the auto diming feature will dissolve certain plastics so I found out gggrrrr!

The ebay special drivers side $40 inc postage heated only mirrors are convex , which I believe is not legal in Australia for drivers side mirrors, but ok for passenger side.
I asked seller if they has flat glass, l got a reply, they sell a stick on flat mirror with adhesive tape that you stick over you old broken mirror. Cheap and nasty. I think I'll pass on that.

That's really odd...

Lugs are easy to fix, but the mounting points being wrong is a problem! Was it definitely the right glass??

Stick on sounds dodgy...

update, the problem is not with the replacement mirror, it seems when I pulled my old mirror out it came out with the plate that attaches to the mirror motor. So if l unclip that off the removed mirror and fit the new mirror to that.

After removing the plate of the back of the mirror is still wrong
I've figured out what the problem is.

1stly you tube tutorial including the powerful UK that show the removal technique where you pry and pull towards you to unclip the mirror is only the 2005 -2009 vehicles.
By following this method l ended up pulling the plate off the motor with the mirror.

The 2002-2004 mirrors use a slide fitting and to remove you lever the mirror down wards to slide out the retaining lugs on the mirror back out of the motor plate. the is one you tube vid that actually shows the method.

The problem I ordered the correct part number but was supplied an after market later mirror which was incorrectly label with the wrong part number.
the following pics tell the story.
top mirror is later models, bottom mirror is for 2002-2004 note lugs marked in yellow.

all l can say is wht a PITA to get the clips aligned and lock onto lugs, lube with grease but did want to break it trying to slide them home.
