hi
trying to get my head lights a bit better
according to the Wiki manual, i have Bi-xenon headlamps
it goes on to say that both head and dip use Halogen bulbs
then it says, main beam, halogen 55w bulb
dip/main beam, Xenon bulb (doesn't mention the wattage)
the dip/main beam looks bright enough but the halogen main beam is a yellow/orange coulor
the yellow/orange coulor doesn't look right to me, like its not getting the voltage
it might be a silly question but i will ask it any way
can, or is it any advantage to replace the bulbs with a different kind of bulb (LED may be)
has any one else had problems similar to this, how did you fix it
also trying to find out how to adjust the head lights

The halogens are much more yellow than the bi-xenons and are useless due to their lack of output, not their colour. I replaced my halogens with a cheap 50/55W HID kit using 4700K colour temperature globes which are a good match for the 55W 4500K bi-xenons. The HID globes needed their locating tab bent forwards a little to raise the aim as the halogens are aimed quite close and far too close for the grossly brighter HIDs. The lights are now quite adequate for my 100 kph driving, with the bi-xenons providing good road-side lighting and the HID main beam good spread directly ahead.

LED cannot be fitted to a vehicle unless it has auto headlight level adjusters.
My bi-xenons in the D4 were fantastic,as I have said before on here,we used to drive out to the property 650 Km,after work,no spotlights needed.
So there is definitely something not right with yours,Graeme’s tips maybe the go.
FWIW,this new vehicle we have came with LED’s,and they are a step up from the bi-xenons.

It appears (from RAVE) that L322s have auto headlight adjusters but my Vogue doesn’t. Maybe they were on early cars.

I have an L320 with bi-xenon hi/lo and halogen high. The halogen high is like a spot light (though weak) so doesn't need the auto leveling. The auto leveling is to keep low beam correct. I replaced the halogen with LED globes and works much better for my 100kph country road driving. Sorry, I can't remember the brand and type I bought but my quick research at the time was to buy a good brand name globe.

LR's 4-corner air suspension does the levelling for both bi-xenon and therefore LED and the adaptive headlights also level but only under hard braking or acceleration, at which time the air suspension is prevented from making height adjustments.

i have not fitted the LEDs yet
i was thinking it was more then the main beams and thought i would end up taking the head lights out to see if they had been put together properly.
thats not a two minute job, so i took it to have the head lights adjusted
we found that the left hand dip/head was not throwing a beam
we removed the globe, it looked ok and refitted it, it then worked fine
cant have been put in properly before
adjusted the head lights and it is far better than it was

The shutters in bi-xenons can become sticky through lack of use of high beam (doesn't happen with country vehicles!). A few quick flicks of the high beam switch often frees them.

I have been looking at the same thing. On mine the Xenon are D1S bulbs and they are not that good. I am looking trying some D1S 8000k bulbs and I will upgrade the H7 high beam to something brighter.
LED's wont fit mine

from what i can see, the original globe, coulor temp is 4200.
this is a 35W globe, to go to a 6000 which apparently is no brighter, is a 55W globe
thats an increase in wattage of over 50%
would it be safe to do that

... which are a good match for the 55W ... bi-xenons.Correction - my L322's bi-xenons are 35W, contrary to the specs in the owners manual. It also appears that all D3S are 35W.

I run the + bulbs and are very happy with them, I also put a HID kit into the HIGH BEAM. Getting used to the different coloured light took a while ! No real bright spots, but also not getting the bright reflections of road signs you get with the halogen bulbs. I do run a LED bar light in the grill to give a good light spread to around 80m - 100m

I bought a couple of 35wat globes for mine, supposed to be 150% brighter than the original
I have only got round to fitting one
One of the head/dip globes blew, a new one from rover supplier was about $180, else ware it was $140, none of them had one
I got a osram delivered to my door for $44
I am happy with the lights now
