Engine Mount Help please

Gentlemen,
Firstly, my apologies for so many questions. I am at a critical stage and don't want to make any beginner errors.
I am planning to install the engine into the chassis next weekend, but I am struggling to understand how to physically get the engine mounts into place and keep them there, as I lower the engine.

Firstly can someone help me with the order in which each piece goes together and what pieces go on top of the engine mount, what goes in top of the chassis leg and what goes under the chassis leg? Workshop Manual is silent on all of this.

All it says is " replace components as required".
So for my first time attempt, and assuming I have the engine suspected above the chassis and ready to lower it, what needs to go on top of the chassis (underside of the engine mount). What goes on top of the engine mount and what goes under the chassis mount?
Is there a trick(or two) to holding it together throughout this procedure.

Because I'm very nervous about doing this alone, I'm planning to install the engine and then install the transmission afterwards. However I read recently that this might not be possible, as you need to undo the engine mounts in order to move the engine forward enough to install the transmission. Is this correct?
What is the recommenced way to proceed through this, for a first timer? Again, workshop manual offers no help at all.

Any advice on the transmission mounts would also be hugely appreciated, as I am ignorant about those as well

Hi Whitehillbilly,

Thanks for the help. My problem is that nothing seems to match up.
The Parts manual image in my initial post, shows in my first note show 9 parts. Your image shows 8 parts.

The other photo in my initial post appears to show where some things go above the chassis rail, but its not clear.

Working from the Parts manual image, it appears that parts, 67,68, 69 and 71 gain on top of there engine mount. Part 72 goes under the engine mount but on top of the chassis and then parts 70, 73 and 75 are all inserted upwards from underneath the chassis and tightened down. However the part manual shows 1 only thin washer, your image shows 2 and the image from Cox and Turner shows 7.


Can anyone shed some light on what goes where and how it is assembled?

Becoming more refused rather than less. The little guy cells are letting me down.

This is what I have , parts below blue line on top of chassis & above the line on top of mount bracket.
1st one engine mount 170649 2nd gearbox mount , same as engine 170650 The shims I guess are so you don't squash the rubber too much.
