View Full Version : Crank case ventilation valve

Hi All,

After noticing a bit of sweating from the crank case breather hose over the past few months, some trawling through the forum has led me to add the installation of a Provent 200 to my to do list. The to do list is slowly expanding, but no show stoppers really...just a couple of dash bulbs, the rear door lock actuator and some retaining clips for a small panel section above the rear bumper (made scramble to find some wood in my study to touch now...)

What the trawling hasn't clearly revealed though is, when hooking up the Provent, do you simply attach the outlet hose to the crank case ventilation valve or do away with it altogether and simply connect to an elbow seeing the Provent has a regulation valve of its own? I've seen this touched on in a handful of past threads but no clear answer as such.

What are people running with and is there a difference in any way with either setup?

Thanks in advance

Cheers
Brian

After you install a Provent the factory valve is effectively redundant so do away with it and allow the Provent manage the crankcase ventilation.

Just use a nylon irrigation 19 elbow fitting. It's what I used

This can be bought as a single item.

So is this thread about a V8 or TD5?

Thanks onebob & Bohica...I take it you've had the Provent outlet plumbed to an elbow for a while now with no issues?

I've come a bit late to the party on this one, but figured it'll be an improvement going forwards. Hoping to put off cleaning of the intake manifold for when I've got more spare time on my hands [wink11]

@101RRS Mine's a Td5...

Me too, with genuine rocker cover gasket and no leaks.
