Hi all.

Quick post for all the v8 owners on here..... what sort of average litres per 100 are you getting?

I've only had a chance to do one trip down the highway where it averaged 16.4L/100. Was actually impressed with the considering it has 32" muddies and a 2" lift and 278,000kms on the clock.
Around town i got something in the order of 22L/100. But that was my own fault for driving in 3rd with sport mode [emoji1787][emoji106]

I kept fuel log books on my 3.9 manual D1 - cruising on the freeway at 110kph with aircon on 14.5l/100, easy driving around town 17l/100, heavy zoom zoom driving around town 19/20l/100, offroad 22l/100 and heavy sand 25l/100 and up and up.

Basically take things easy and good economy, go hard and pay for it at the bowser.

My 3.9 auto D1 would get 18~19 mpg around town and 22 mpg highway cruising, driven sensibly, all stock.
Off road or hoofing it would see the fuel gauge racing the speedo across the dash, with the former usually winning.

For combined on-road conditions, I averaged about 16.8mpg with a 4l and about the same now it’s a 4.6l. Coincidentally, equates to about 16.8l/100km.

In the best of conditions (No load, Not towing and with a tail wind) I average about 18l/100k, Fully loaded and towing I struggle to get under 22l/100k.
My D2a is Stock standard with the exception of an ARB bullbar and a steel rear bumper and I have always had 245/70/16 AT tyres fitted, It is what it is and that is a good 4WD with a "Healthy" appitite[bigwhistle][biggrin]

Equivalent to 14L per 100km cost wise, based on the Melbourne price of LPG.
How big is the lpg tank?

That's impressive!

My POS with a 600k plus 350 gets 4.5 k's per litre on gas and about 450 k's max out of a tank of 91 unleaded.

Has had the same petrol in the tank for 3 years but still runs fine on it when it has to. [biggrin]

cheers, DL

Mine was about 16.5 on the highway, in Sydney’s stop stop traffic I’m not even game to get out the calculator

Interesting, I get town/highway numbers in the same sort of range.
But that's with a 6L L76 and matching 6sp auto.

better than brothers ex 4.5lt GU on Gas.
Used to get about 3k/lt loaded with family and relevant stuff, but not towing.
He once towed a 6x8 trailer and still got similar fuel figures. I reckon trailer was about 500kg or so.

My D2 with steel roofrack, front and rear bars is getting 16-17L/100km on the highway, but more like 19 around town/home (in the hills). Doesn't seem to change much once I hook the camper trailer up.

When I first got my 79 Series I was expecting massive fuel costs But I was pleased to see that even loaded up to GVM and towing a 20 foot Jayco it only used 15l per 100km [thumbsupbig]

I can remember Rovercare towing a car trailer back from NSW with a RRC on it and his modded Isuzu 120 (or was it a RRC with modded Isuzu?) fuel consumption went from 11 l/100 to 13.
