Hi folks! Just bought my first Land Rover, a 2013 Freelander 2 SD4.
Two issues I can’t seem to get any answers on:
1. Just after I got it, had loss of power when accelerating from stop. Thought maybe it was a bad lot of fuel. Took about two refills to stop happening.
2. Once this cleared, the second issue started. Don’t know if they’re related. At around 80kmh it gets a bad shudder in the rear if revs are low (1500rpm). If I give it more revs it stops shuddering. This only happens in Drive mode. If I drive in Sports mode (higher revs) it’s completely fine. It’s had a 190,000km service and two gearbox flushes with anti-shudder out in but is still happening. Really hoping it’s not needing a new gearbox!

Bonus issue - just noticed it’s blowing cloud of dark smoke if I accelerate hard to overtake. This is in either drive mode.

Any insights appreciated!

Loss of power and black smoke under acceleration might be a boost issue. Maybe a split hose.

With the other issues I'd have the car get a diagnostic scan and see what codes pop up. The Freelander 2 is pretty basic as far as Land Rover's go so even a basic OBDII scanner will work well.
