Hi Guys, super excited to have finally booked and payed deposit for a factory build RR Sport. Going for a SE DI6 183KW model. Now Need help from you experts and current owners. Colour selection- Eiger Grey or Fuji white??? By the way the car will have ‘black pack’ (wheels etc) as standard and also I opted for panoramic, black contrast roof. What body colour do you guys recommend? Thanks in advance

Congratulations mate and welcome to the forum!

colours huh? Ordinarily, I would say any colour but white (or black) but, if you're going for a black contrast roof with black pack then Fuji White looks great. Eiger Grey with Black pack might be a bit dark but I think would still look good (that's down to personal taste though). If you like the white then consider Yulong White, it's a 2K option like the Eiger Grey but much nicer than the free but flat looking Fuji White.

Good luck with the colour choice!

Thanks. I am keen to go with Fuji white now. With the extra money that I was going to pay for Eiger Gray may as well get the front console refrigerator compartment!! It’s a cool upgrade I think. Any suggestions?

Just double check you really need the panoramic roof - love or hate - so just confirm it is for you.

I have the cubby fridge in my old RRS and I would be lost without it - definitely would be on my list. Both your colours look great but white will contrast with the black roof the best. (Red also looks great [thumbsupbig])

Cheers

Thanks Garry. I’ll consider the front console refrigerator. Panoramic roof is for my 6 year old girl. She doesn’t care what car I buy but she is a fan of panoramic roof 😜. Thanks again for your replies. This forum is great!

Does it have a shade or are you going to cook in summer. So this is your 6yo daughters car [bighmmm].

Congratulations mate. I have also ordered 22My RRS 183Kw in March End and no information on Build Date yet.

It would be great if you can get some information on this when you are talking to your dealer.

As per dealer, delivery expected towards Mid/End October.

What's your delivery commitment from dealer?

Hi Napsterx,
Thanks,
Congratulations to you too. mine would be delivered in November. I was told that semiconductors and reverse camera are not in stock due to COVID hence the delay in delivery. I’ll keep you posted if I have an update.

I have just taken delivery of an Eiger Grey HSE. I did consider the black pack, but did not want 21in wheels (I spend a lot of time in the snow), so did not go that way. As fate would have it, I am currently up the mountains, and I am parked next to an identical HSE, but with the black pack. Call me biased, but I think the silver trim and wheels actually work better with Eiger Grey.

I went with the 221kw engine, pano roof, tow hitch receiver, Meridian sound system (amazing!), and TPMS.

Having owned 3 X5s, I expected that I would be giving up some handling performance as a trade for comfort. Nothing of the sort! It was an absolute delight on the Hume, as expected, but also amazingly good going up the mountain. Better than the last X5.

You will enjoy whatever you get… except for the waiting!

Thanks AIM. Glad to hear that you are loving your RR sport! The colour decision is a challenge. 😜😜. I have exactly the same specifications (meridian sound, tow hitch receiver etc) as yours except mine is a 183KW. Did you consider front console refrigerator?

I decided against the cooled or refrigerated cubby because I figured I just would not use it enough. Given I have had the car for only 4 days, I cannot say whether that was a good decision.

if I wanted to spend more money, I might have gone for the cooled seats; for a lot more money, I would have gone for the 258KW Autobiography! :-). …but I am perfectly happy with what I have. It has exceeded my hopes and expectations.

Good to hear the first hand owner experience. Keep posting some cool stuff as you find out about the Ultimate Machine.

Hopefully, I also get some information on Build.

Nothing yet. Dealer said he is still waiting from JLR to get the order confirmation which is dependent on build slot allocation.

I've got an absolute bug-a-bear about grey/black/bitumen-coloured/rainy-day-coloured cars.
For goodness sake, get white? (I think it's cheaper as well, both at acquisition and in maintenance).

My observation is that on a rainy dusk, half the cars will not have put their lights on and about 80% of them will be cars that are hardest to see. I actually started car-counting in one patch of weather like this. The weirdest thing was - a lot of them were cars I knew had auto-headlights, so that feature had been switched off. I'm expecting the insurers to up the rates for 'vanishing colours' at some point soon.

Oddly, one of the most safe colours I've ever owned (I've a white LR-FL2 and a red Honda Jazz) was a Nissan's bright, non-metallic blue. And it was so easy to find in a car-park as well.

But - my LR is white - and I've never regretted it. Just had some minor body-work done (after colliding with a black[!!] car!!!) and the result is 'as new or better' - obviously the paint was easy to match.

Incidentally, my experience is that LR paint is robust. I got my LR saying 'it will get scratched!' - but I've not got anything after kissing the shrubbery that didn't all but wash off.

Agree with the safety aspects but do own a Grey car as colour is my last consideration. I always drive and ride with lights ! For new I prefer not to own Red White or Black but would have if all other important to me aspects were available and I got a discount for buying those colours.

I think the new RRS comes with DRLs as standard so the issue of lights on or off is irrelevant.

Correct. DRLs will make the car far more visible, at much greater ranges, than any paint could (well, perhaps painting it hi-vis fluoro might do it).

Hey Rajs,

I received bad news today. Build in October second week and delivery in Jan second week.

Earlier it was July built and October delivery.

No I didn’t order activity key.

Really sad to hear this today.

Hi Guys,

I was just informed that that the 360 camera and cruise control will not be available in my new RR Sport. very disappointing, the delivery date has moved from dec 2021 to April 2022. Anyone else in the same boat? please advise.

I'd say just cancel the order. buy a stop-gap 2nd hand one, and then before you know it the RRS3 will be out and you can trade in. (already teased in UK). Hopefully the chip shortage will be over by then.
Cruise Control is basic but something LR can't seem to get right. My 1989 subaru liberty had a superior cruise control to my 2015 RRS.

I would nor accept any modern car without cruise control - first pressure to provide what was ordered and if no luck, LR have broken their contract so cancel and get something else.

I will second that, the CC in our LC is light years ahead of the CC in our old D4,as is the fuel burn dash read out, spot on almost all the time, where the D4 was often up to 30% out continually, but LR could never sort it.

Others are correct,i cant believe they want you to accept a vehicle with no CC,i would cancel the order and move on.

I suspect that he is talking about radar cruise control not the standard cruise control. Pretty poor that radar cruise control isn't standard, my wifes $30K Kia Cerato has rafdar standard.

Interesting. My D4 CC is light years ahead of the CC in my old 100 series LC.
I find the D4 CC easy to use, responsive and overall very user friendly.

How are your front seats in the LC200? My mate had to buy a set of Recaro's for his 2020 LC200 as the Toyo seats were doing his back in on the long trips (Hobart to Zeehan) every week.
He reluctantly conceded that my D4 seats are far superior in comfort than the LC seats.
Most probably also has something to do with the fact that the D4 doesn't ride like an old horse cart compared to the LC200, not to mention the far superior handling and balance on the twisty roads in Tas.

Not surprised the D4 CC would be ahead of a 100 which would be old tech, and years older?

The seats in the 200 we find are way more comfortable than the D4.Different models may have different seats,i dont know.
The D4 seats were much harder and had sort of bumps in the wrong places, but everybody is different. After about 4 hrs,i generally got an aching arse, but thats probably just me.[biggrin][bigsad]
Due to a family emergency,we recently did 1280Km,four short stops, overnight run,no issues at all,LED lights way better than D4 Xion.
On one tank of fuel, the big tank is great, and very handy.

The D4 did handle better,IS on all corners with EAS will always be very good, probably the best around in its class, but has its downfalls.
As we expected the 200 doesnt handle as well, but its still not bad, then again, it isnt a race car.
The actual ride is pretty good.

The main thing we have noticed,is after 12 months, not a single issue, where every LR we have ever bought new,and thats 5 of them, have had numerous issues in the first 12 months of ownership. And some continual issues through the warranty period. The D4 was better, but still had issues early on and quite a few niggling issues after the warranty period expired.

The only reason we changed brands was LR had nothing that we liked or suited us,if the new Deefender 130 wagon was around we may have gone that way,but its still a long way off, and no doubt a lot more expensive than what we paid. The load space in the 110 is too small for us,way smaller than D4.For what we need, there are not many boxes,if any, that the vehicle we now have doesn't tick.

Edit, one thing i do hate about the LC is the whine from the Transfer Case in Low Range. It gets bloody annoying, after a while, maybe i am easily annoyed[biggrin]
Apparently its due to straight cut gears, dont see many complaints about the issue, so maybe its just me[bighmmm]

It will cost you significantly when time comes to sell it.

Hi All,

Finally LR was able to re-instate the cruise control in the factory order. however 360 camera wont be available. Just wanted to update you all. Thanks all for your comments. My build will commence in Jan for delivery April, fingers crossed. Good 11 months of turnaround since placing the order back in May 2021.
