Upgrade GCM L663

I am waiting on delivery of my new 2021 Land Rover Defender D300.
I have noticed the GCM is 6968 KG (8201 lbs) for the same vehicle in America compared to 6700 KG in Australia.

Does anyone know if it is possible to have an Australian Defender registered with the higher GCM figure of 6968 KG? [bighmmm]

Yeah some of the weight limits are actually ridiculous. The new PHEVs have a GVM of 3320kg vs my D240 5-seater on 3150kg. Are there different suspension components in the PHEV? If not, why can't mine have the extra 170kg of payload?

I get there's a factor here to do with axle loading and rollover points, and you see some of that with the 6-cyl vs 4-cyl differences. I would love to be able to make the argument that my bull bar and winch should effectively be added to my GVM because they're up front just like the heavier engine would be.

But anyway to actually answer your question: I've heard it said that on monocoque chassis vehicles there is no legal option to get a certified increase in GVM in Australia. My pessimism finds that all too plausible, but I don't know it for sure.
