Thinking about a drive to Stanthorpe on Thursday morning, in case it snows. Anyone know the most likely spots?

Park at the top of Cunningham's Gap and do the 9 k, I think, walk to Bare Rock. I would put money on it to snow there. Speaking from experience here. One of the most miserable working days of my life, fair dinkum![bigsad][biggrin]

I want to experience this strange phenomenon from the comfort of my climate control equipped HSE. I could be tempted to make a short, hazardous dash to a centrally heated cellar door.

I have been told Snow is cold & wet, therefore should only be seen on TV or in books.
BTW It is a balmy 28 degrees in Doomadgee though we are expecting low 20's tomorrow.
Now where did I put my one & only jumper?

Hmm, tomorrow I expect to need several jumpers, thermals, big jacket, padded overtrousers, rubber boots, beanie, scarf and gloves. The Tassie Highlands are not so tropical this time of the year.

I understood the polar blast was to occurr wee hours of wednesday.....so did my neighbours.....and according to them , so did hundreds of others drive to Stanthorpe to see something that wasn't there.....apparently not even jack frost turned up.
Wondering if hundreds will adjust their timetables and go tomorrow.

You going to pop down, on the off chance, Paul?
It could be a cultural shock for the boys. :Rolling:

“I’ve been told snow is cold and wet..”. Well I have worked in snow a fair bit, logging and dozer operating , and it is curious that it is not cold nor wet, I know this defies physics and chemistry, however it is not that unpleasant.
Sleet, hail ,melting snow ,black frost, cold wind all take the shine off sitting on an open cab TD 30 or humping a big Stihl but snow can be a wonderland.
So don’t be bashful Ian and Paul. get yourselves down to Tassie and spend a couple of months at Waratah or Liawenee

In many places in the world it is dry and fluffy. Just not in Australia, usually.

Playing rugby in sleet, coming in side-ways, in Ballarat in mid-winter, is an experience to be avoided.

Especially when playing away when you hit the showers after the game.

They would die!
As you know Wilma is skin & bone, Wilfred would love it but no stop shiver & McQuillen dressed like an Eskimo to go to school this morning.
It's chilly here tonight, the A/C's have gone into reverse cycle so it must be.

Expand your horizons and pop down to Mt Hotham. By the time you figure out how to deal with that it'll be Wombat Time!

Is that in Australia? When I bought my coach the seller showed me how to manipulate the air bags for greater traction in snow. I told him I had no need for that information.

Funny Ian. We all know it does snow in QLD rather infrequently. Add while jackets and coats might not get much of a work out in Cains. Inland from Toowoomba can freeze your nuts off at times[biggrin]
Just like our WA mates. Suspect it is just one large lump to to the west of Esperance which gets a dusting. It did once at XMAS time honest[thumbsupbig]
Oddly if skiing I get hot and have often ripped jumpers off while out[biggrin] Bit like my skinny ass running in the middle of winter in a singley?
A real WOO HOO turned up today on that score. My Melbourne Marathon Entry from last year and the year before was kindly rolled over for me[thumbsupbig], Let it SNOW baby- I will be running in it snow hail or shine.

No snow, no Pedro,
I searched high,
I searched low,
I think he was scared it was going to snow.

I came back to Dubbo from Sydney yesterday on the XPT - a lot of snow lying on the ground for much of the way from Katoomba to Suarttown. Probably the thickest was about Clarence, where the snow was nearly up to the top of the rails on the track next to us.
And then from just west of Orange almost to Wellington we had fog that restricted speed to 50kph!

Hmm, also needed a brolly as we had Scottish sunshine falling most of the time. Life is great when your boys cook a marinated roll of beef on a rotissary over the camp fire one night and chicken karagi? (spelling?) on the pot belly stove the next. We call it garage chicken for short. Good times.
Cheers
