Hi,

Has anyone on this forum tried this mod to disable the auto start/stop function?

Auto Start/Stop disable | Range Rovers Forum (https://www.rangerovers.net/threads/auto-start-stop-disable.341127/)

Did it work ok or have you disabled it some other way?

Thanks, Simon.

One of the guys at work asked this exact same question the other day. He has the 2.0L Ingenium engine in his RRS (not the PHEV). Be interesting to find out.

I did it 6 months ago and no issues have occurred subsequently.
I read about this procedure and was tired of turning it off every time I started the vehicle.
I just unplugged it and used a plastic clip to stop the unplugged plug from moving around.
I have checked with my IID tool and no error messages displayed.

Barry

Cool...aside from the fact that that for a F-Pace.[bigrolf] I know, I know, it gives the gist of what is needed regarding the unplugging of the device which is the same. Just ignore the info on the panel removal and the location of the device.

The PowerfulUK vid is only useful a a guide to remove the side panel.

So, I removed the panel today to find I have a secondary battery in that location.
Anyone have any ideas?
Is a MY16.5 SDV8 HSE

Just disconnecting the battery should do it. That was the advice from those that tried it first years ago.

Yes, early L494 RRS have the battery, the later ones have a capacitor, instead of the battery. The pictures in the Jaguar example show the capacitor system.

Hi Pedro, yes it 'just' rips off. see my pic in the Installing Antennas thread to see location of yellow clips. if you have some plastic levers you can start at the end near the rear passenger door, to get some movement, then start pulling. leave the bottom , it just lifts out once you do the top and sides.

Apparently its MUCH more important to have heated seats than a mild heart attack every time the car stops? [bigwhistle]

It takes some getting used to doesn't it?[bigrolf] I got used to pressing the button a lot quicker than I did the engine stopping.
