Cooler household gas in WA ?

Had a chat with a random person, about the suspicion that his gas, the reticulated stuff from holes in the ground, was not as "hot" as it used to be.
Not ever considered the possibility, but..... we run a secondary or Plan B instant gas HWS and..... yes it is less efficient in colder months, but now that you mention it, this year it's struggling. Need to turn the water flow right down to a strong dribble.
Same with our unflued gas heater. When we bought it (used) a few years ago during a New Ice Age it worked a treat. - to the point of being turned right down low after the house became a sauna. But not this winter. Running it at 100% and gotta close off rooms to keep the heat in. And, standing in front of it doesn't melt the feet as it used to... Before you ask, yep, cleaned and 'serviced' and running well. - It IS a Jap - built Rinnai.

Are the local gas suppliers bleeding some air into the supply ? or the gas naturally (sorry, pun just flowed out.....) less calorific now. ?

Either would cause issues with air/fuel ratio with the real risk of increased CO levels, so I’d be pretty surprised. Certainly haven’t noticed an issue with either hot water or the Rinnai heater in Dianella.

Well it is a bloody cold winter on the East Coast and at Avoca Beach we have used the heater more than ever before. It is currently 10.7 and feels like 8.8 at10.30 in the morning, and that is 1Km from the coast North of Sydney.

Our Rinnai runs on LPG as for some reason Avoca has no piped gas , but we had NBN early in the piece. Go figgure.

More snow than many years in the Mountains. The Mountain Pygmy Possums will be very happy.

But gee I hate working on cars in the cold. We have just heard another extra week in lockdown.

We're on a different pipeline in Kalgoorlie to what supplies Perth, but haven't noticed any difference here. Rinnai heater in the lounge is still hotter than required (I turn it off as soon as SWMBO retires for the night), and instantaneous hot water working same as normal.

The OP may have a blocked filter, not sure they even do that on domestic stuff? Industrial installations do have them, having said that the filters seem to stay clean for years.

.. All a direct cause of increasing CO2 and Global Warming. (nothing to do with solar radiation and Milankovich Cycles....)

We've just had the "Driest June for years", but last week's rainfall is more than making up for it. - Betting we won't hear about "Wettest JULY in years."

The other po$$ibility is.... our >25 years BOSCH instant HWS is nearing the end of it's days. Crud build-up inside heat exchanger is increasing ? - Not considered a top possibility as we use it only during winter when the Solar HWS takes a few days to heat up a tank on sunny /cold days. But....
