Nah, same as mine, had similar in the D4. It cleans up easily and if you like to look after your stuff then this interior just keeps looking like new.

Are you asking about the space in front of the gear leaver/cup holders? That's just a spot to put your phone.

My D4 was the same colour and when it was sold it looked very close to new. IMO opinion it is the nicest colour.

Congrats Pedro.
The 4.4 SDV8 is the best engine ever dropped into a Landrover.
I have seen figures of 5.9Lt per 100Klm's on a long trip. In sane for such a large engine.

Enjoy..............

I think you don't get Road side Assist if the car is too old, like over 8 yo.
Just had a service too, and about the same price.

However, they tell me next year's service will be $2800, because its the belts'n'all service.

Cruising all day at 100 with a van your SD would get further as it wouldn't have to stop so many times for fuel.

also on my MY16.5, that tekonsha 3052? lead used for brake controller install doesnt work as the car plug is different?

For the brake controller, please read the sticky thread at the top.
For the oil level reading, you can refer to the manual. If the car did not come with the manual, you can view it online. Lots of interesting reading in there [bigsmile1]

Hi Pedro,

I may have missed something..........have you towed the van with the SDV8 yet?

Pedro_The_Swift

Not yet,, Monday is the day, bought some Milenco Aero 4's that I had to cut down slightly[bighmmm] (12cm off the rods...)
no idea if the van/car will sit level until then, the d2 towball always was an inch or two too high,
Only going to Yandina so just enough time to check on wheel bearings, [bigwhistle]

anyone else using Milenco's? post pics of the attachment? maybe I'm not pushing hard enough...

new seat covers installed,, [smilebigeye]

The car will always be level but you may need to adjust the height of the towball to get the van level.

I use milenco aero 4s on the defender

Good units

I use cable ties as well as the clamps but I doubt that sort of attachment would suit your upmarket rattler

[emoji4]

Gregz
12th August 2021, 06:49 PM
Hi Pedro, I have used the Milencos. I put the clamps on the underside of the mirror which is more parallel to the ground than the upper side. I have the Milencos then sitting above their rods. the clamps just fit between the mirror glass and the housings, and will still allow you to move the glass with the in-vehicle controls. If you cut down the ends,(like you have mentioned) you can arrange it so that the mirrors can still fold in when you lock the car without the rods touching the bodywork (just). I am in between vans at the moment, I will see if I can dig out a photo of old van.

Hi Pedro, enjoying the activity you have generated on this forum keep up the good work.

You may need to look into these mirror pads designed specifically to suit Land Rovers. I have a set for my Milenco mirrors and they lock the mirror onto the car mirror more securely

Nice find Fridster! Ordered!

Was looking at the shiney chrome towball yesterday, and as you do, went to use it as a "help get my arse off the ground" lever,, and the buggar moved!
probably a centimeter upwards at the ball,,,,
is this a normal RRS thing? I wonder if a different brand bar would fit better?
I remember having to "fix" the silver D2 but it was nowhere near this loose, the Green D2 and D1 Hayman reese were much better in this regard.

Geedublya
14th August 2021, 05:46 AM
My Hayman Reece has the rattle stop bolt under the pin.... I don't know what genius designed that.

You can either shim it, use an anti rattle clamp (https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/sca-sca-tow-hitch-clamp/519629.html) or drill a hole and weld on a nut at for a rattle stop bolt in a location away from the pin/pivot point.

Pedro_The_Swift
14th August 2021, 06:20 AM
Yep drilled and tapped the Silver one,, (which had the tongue bend upside down to lower the ball height, and it still wasnt enough, ya gotta remember the old Golf runs on 14's ;) )
and I may have to change ball heights yet..
so no use fixing this one if its wrong...

the van hitch sits around 42cm off the ground,,

How did the van go towing?

Pedro_The_Swift
22nd August 2021, 07:26 PM
Simply, the car rocks as a tug,,,, I'm sure it would be even better ( if possible) using the paddles. No up and down rocking, I can still feel the tail of the van squirm going past semi"s but now no correction is felt to be needed. Still not at all sure if there are any tricks to full load uphill take-offs... My only real concern is the lack of engine braking...

LR recommend that if you are towing heavy loads at speeds below 30kph for an extended period to use low range.

You can use low range at any time to get under way especially if moving off up hill. You can then change over to high range at any speed UNDER 60kph.

NOTE that you have to be stationary to switch from high to low range.

Sorry, I guess I misunderstood your query:

Still not at all sure if there are any tricks to full load uphill take-offs...

How heavy is your "little van"? Looks about 2.5T. Using low range when manoeuvring the van will help take care of the ZF transmission....the engine is not going to be bothered by it either way but the transmission will appreciate it.

By the by, I was talking to a bloke sometime ago that had bought his RRS to tow his 3.5T boat. He was perplexed as to why he was getting transmission faults when trying to reverse it up a hill. I asked him if he was using low range, "what's that?" he asked. Poor bloke was a new comer from one of the other European marks where low range was not a thing. Happy chappy after a little lesson on some of the features his car had.

Toowoomba range has a 40kph speed limit downhill at the start,, now that a range change is open up to 60 ..... maybe a slight acceleration to change ranges up ? So many questions... [emoji1]
