A word to the wise
Did fit oil pump and did everything down the bottom, then installed sump with gasket and hylomar. Last fitting [bigsmile1]
Ummmmm! Nup! [bigsad]
Installing oil pump and distributor drive shaft, all sorta went as advertised per book; except looks to be one tooth out . Fat lug not aligned with no. 3 plug. So lift shaft out and rotate. Nup! Lots of fiddlin' and jiggery pokery and shaft will not come up. Did find out one is either lucky or not so. Sump has to come off and oil pump pulled [bawl]
Oh well! Is another "trap for young players" So:
Don't fit sump or lock oil pump up until the distributor drive is properly aligned/timed FIRST!
(In same category as "fit pistons rings and rods before crankshaft!)
Cheers
