My 08 disco just cracked the 200km and on recent trip was hunting between 1600 + 2000 rpm , not pulling up the hills towing camper .
Got home and had it scanned with torque convertor fault , now i just need to replace , where is the best place to get one from ?
Yes trans serviced at 160km

You probably won't find just a torque converter unless you buy new at a huge cost. You will be able to get your torque converter rebuilt. I just had 1 rebuilt for $400. It may also need a new set of solenoids and definitely would benefit from a new bridge seal and pack seals.

+1 what woko said. Search for the Gen 2 Zip kit from Sonnax, new bridge seals and solenoids from ZF.
Hardest part will be getting the transmission out and back in.

Eric the discovery run the gen 1 zip kit.

Depends on the year and transmission. My December 10 D4 built runs a ZF6HP28 6 speed that requires the Gen 2 kit

As Eric said, zip kit is a good idea but looking like you will have to remove the metatronics to see what generation you have. You also will need to do this to see what separator plate is fitted. There are a few versions of those also. My 06 has a 052 separator plate

But well worth doing. Did mine in my garage (not the torque converter) easy as and transmission just ever so smooth since.

Nope. You have to pull it to be sure which plate is required. I just bought both so I knew I had what was needed.

There’s a stamp sticker on side of the tranny above the pan with what exact model ZF it is but thought it was 6HP26 as mine’s an 08 also

Oh yes. For the zip kit, as you say there’s a model/serial on the side you need to find and use that to ensure the correct kit. I’m sure ZIP has guidance on how to find the code

Also search for ZF distributors in Australia.

I bought my zip kit, pump, bridge and mechatronic seals and solenoids from the US, steel pan and duoprene gasket from Victoria, separator plate from the WA ZF distributor (after I had it all apart) and ATF fluid from SCA (Penrite BMV) via special order for a 20L drum. Was around d 1200 in parts all up.

I've got a left over separator plate here, brand new in the box. I bought both available options before I dropped the pan. Happy to sell it. I can get you the part number of your interested.
There is a guy on eBay in Australia selling genuine zf parts, his name is MJ products, I get all my stuff from him.

I’m doing a massive maintenance surge at 250k kms. After a first drop with LG6 still had clunky 2 to 1 down shift at lights so on second oil drop I replaced these rubber seals above the mechatronics plate and wow it’s made a huge difference, the shifts are super smooth at all speeds and power loads. The old ones were very hardened. For about $40 extra it was worth it before going down the solenoid change route.

Do a voltage check on the solenoids you've pulled out. they should all read the same. Hope you've also got a new bridge seal the one at the rhs of the photo (two black squares with a hole in each, connected via a thin strip of rubber) - this is the main fluid transfer from transmission to valve body seal, oh and a new mechatronic seal.

Looks nice and clean after 250,000km

Yep did the 4 tubes and 1 bridge seal and new mechatronics seal. Bit scary removing the plate but super easy with care. I doubt if these have ever been done. New filter and gasket. 3rd fluid change with LG6 and going really nicely.

I didn’t touch solenoids.

Awesome, nice job. When I opened mine up was super careful not to lose any of the detent ball bearings, little filter and such.

Did you end up putting a zip kit through as well on the valve lines?

No did not do anything to plate or solenoids only the cheap seals above. Save that for the future.

Touch wood - no errors or codes and those seals have removed some of the recent (slight) harsh shifting that had crept in.
