View Full Version : Nanocom programmable fobs? Where to source?

I tried a relatively cheap eBay fob and can't get it to play ball with the Nanocom and get it associated with the car [bigsad]. I'm too poor to afford a genuine replacement, so just looking for either a reasonably priced after market or even refurbished unit (or two). Anyone got any ideas where to get these things from that will work? Cheers.

you need to get a keyfob with the correct MHZ. i cant remember what spec you need but a lot of fobs on ebay are incorrect for Aus models.

There was a bloke in Sydney and one in Melbourne who had reasonable prices and would program them as well if you were able to get to them.

I got a 315Mhz unit which seems to be the right one as the RF test on the Nanocom detects it. Although, the Nanocom reports a successful sync if no fob is pressed at the prompt, so maybe it isn't?

I have had two off eBay, rf test was successful on both but could not program either of them, as did another member on here try as well, returned to seller and got a refund.

I was thinking of doing that. They say needs to be programmed by a locksmith or dealer, so I figured that would be an out for them. Is this not the case?

The correct fob can be programmed with a Nenocom. I've done it, so it's not complex. [biggrin]

I'll get hold of one of them 315 units and give it a go.

Forgot to add I had to update the nano firmware to 1.36b to setup the fobs properly, after which it was by the numbers as per the blackbox tutorial

Yes, exactly the problem. The "current" 1.35 version of the software has a "d2 fob programming bug". To fix it, the 1.36b (for beta) needs to be installed.

I'd received a second fob today based on your recommendation in this thread and it still wouldn't program. At this point the penny dropped and I started digging into the possibility that there is an issue with the firmware on the Nanocom, and it turns out there is.

Once upgraded the fob's were programmed in no time. I had one win in that the vendor of the first fob has given me a refund. Feeling a bit guilty about that now [bigsad]

Well that's easily rectified!

So do both of these work?

The 315 Mhz is the one that suits my D2 and yes works fine with 1.36b firmware on Nano. It is from overseas seller.

The 433 Mhz I bought before I knew the frequency of my receiver. It is sold by a bricks and mortar place in brisbane and they use them themselves. You can ring them 07 3252 7872 to confirm suitability for your application.

Post #10 and my experience confirms 315 Mhz units suit application.

Got a new key (433MHz) a week ago from Aussieremotes fleabay site, was getting ready to send it back to them after having issues with the sync and no luck on the key detect, saw this post and just went out and checked the firmware on the Evo which was 1.35.
Updated to 1.36b and it programmed first go!

Its odd though, in V1.35 I wrote the new key over the top of the original and it sync'd but wouldn't detect, I then tried to write the original key into slot 2 and it wouldn't detect either.
I then wrote the original key back into slot1 and it sync'd and detected perfectly... [wink11]

I've also noticed the touch senstivity of the screen is far better with this V1.36b update as well and Ive got the original Evo which has always been a bit hard to get a response on the keypress.

Cheers
Andrew
