Mark and Keryl are friends of ours, living in Northern NSW. Mark restored the Wolseley himself and has competed for the last couple of years. It's a great idea, for a great cause.
If you can spare a few bob, without causing yourself hardship, it would be really appreciated. Every little bit helps!

Perhaps place 'AULRO' in the comments section.
A big 'THANKS' to Incisor and Mods for the go ahead for this.

Steve

There's a pretty reasonable chance that Wolseley is SWMBO's first car. We sold it to someone who did it up as variety club bash vehicle.

Were you in Yass, when it was bought? How coincidental, if it's the same vehicle. It's in good hands, anyway.

Thanks for the donation.

It was picked up from Quirindi where it had been parked on the place wifeys parents were on. My recollection was that it was someone from the Hunter region that bought it, they sent us a picture of it done up for a bash, this would have been about 1999.

Tote

Different vehicle, I reckon, Tote. This one was only restored a couple of years ago. It lives in the Northern Rivers district.

As a bit of an aside, in 1985 I partook in the original Burke to Burketown Variety Club bash organized by Dick Smith.

I was providing support for my sister who had entered an all girl team in a black 1962 220s Mercedes. The girls wore black throughout including black stilettos.

I had my dad riding shotgun, a former chief medical officer with the RFDS. He was team doctor which proved useful on a couple of occasions. We were in my 1976 2 door Ranger Rover. It was an amazing couple of weeks, met also sorts of interesting people and raised a lot of money and awareness.

This event officially started at the Opera house. BBC Panorama made a program about the adventures… 1985 Variety Club Bash - Bourke to Burketown - YouTube (https://youtu.be/0xkpFVB8zjk)

My sisters team came second. I think ‘officially’ everyone else came third!
