Hi….. I have been a Land Rover nut since I was young but only ever owned modern LR’s. We recently bought a farm with a shed which gives me the space to now get an old LR to play with. I have acquired an LR series 2a which my father found in a paddock. Unfortunately due to COVID and lockdowns I can’t get it for a while but I have some pics.
Not sure if anyone can shed light on what it is I have acquired, any way to find more of its history?

It looks like it was supplied as a cab/chassis and has a farmer built trayback, although it is possible it was sold as a different body style and converted on farm. Engine is original type, but the aircleaner is not. Looks to be mostly complete from what you can see, and the colour of the engine suggests it has been overhauled - I don't think they came in that colour.

You have apparently the last registration number, and your best source of information would be to chase up information on that through RMS.

thanks! I tried looking up the rego which looks like UTN401 but it just errors out! I’m told it was running until 2 yes ago when owner lost his sight so it just sat there. Damn covid I just want to drive up there and grab it now!

Thanks! I tried that to, then I wondered if maybe it’s not nsw plate but I’m sure those colours are nsw only.

WA used to have that colour if my memory serves, but i don't think they had three letters and three numbers.

However, if it is NSW, but has not been registered since everything went digital (quite possible) information will not be available on line, but may still be available - you would have to phone RMS and find the right person to talk to, which may be easier said than done. And you may have to pay something. I seem to remember someone describing this process somewhere on this forum a while back.

Obviously there will be advantages when you can actually get there. If it has been on the farm for a long time, quite possibly from new, cultivating acquaintance with (older) neighbours would also be a way of getting information.

Unfortunately not a wa plate if it was a yellow standard plate it would begin with 6 thru to 9 if it was a yellow country plate it would have a big black dot in between the letters and numbers

Hi All
I found a S2A LWB tray back, 6 cyl petrol Rover motor. The info plate is pictured. It also has a sticker in the engine bay stating "Negative Earth".
It has sat unloved for many years, but was most recently registered in QLD.

It's fine either way!

The title of my post I thought indicated I was interested in any history of the particular vehicle anyone felt like sharing.

cheers

I think as you 'piggy backed' on another thread rather than starting one of your own that may have caused the comment.
I, like most, don't always read the title of each individual post.

Put the number in here Clifton Scientific Text Services, the Netherlands (https://www.clifton.nl/index.html?calvin.html) and you'll find some information.

Not sure there's much other information available unless you have a rego number or someone knows the vehicle, a picture or two would help.

DougSorry, I wasn't aware a post could have a title, I just went on the thread title, which wasn't by you, so I couldn't correlate the 2, and on the phone a single post doesn't have/show a title.

Cheers
