I need to get a vehicle from the Snowy region to Melb. Given the current situation I can't do it myself. Does anyone know of a transport solution? This is not a small vehicle.

TIA

Have someone drive it to the border check point then pick it up? Doubt that would be allowed though.

Only option would be to employ a registered transport company who have permission to cross the border as no one else is allowed to.

You could go get it but you and whoever dipped you there would need a red zone permit to re enter vic and you’d have to isolate for 2 weeks afterwards.

Or if it’s not urgent, wait until NSW is out of lockdown - sometime next year.

I did wonder about that. They could drive it down the Barry Way. Wouldn't be a huge checkpoint there....

Ha. Don't think the seller will wait that long.... I guess I'll ring around the transport mobs. Trucks are still crossing the border.

Last time I had to do this I found PrixCar to be very good (pricing, professionalism and service). Good luck.

Get an Oka size tilt tray to get it over the border.

Cheapest quote so far is $2700, which is reasonable given the circs.

Yes I also need to get a vehicle from ACT to Vic but it is dead so car carriers will not take it - I have learnt previous not to send dead vehicles as general cargo as they just use a forklift to put the car on the truck with no care. Over long distances, tilt trays are just too expensive.

We have no Covid in the ACT and not had any for well over 400 days but we are still banned from Vic even with direct flights - noting that compared to the ACT, Vic is a Covid Hotspot.

Try this guy, he mainly does the east coast, picked up my old LSE soft dash from Woolgoolga to take it to Shepparton. It's just a rolling shell, he had no dramas doing it.

Get it to the NSW side of the border bubble, I can cross for goods or services not available on the Vic side.
And I'll look after it for you, free of charge, until you get released from lockdown [emoji3]

Be nice if they answered emails/phone calls. They don't. Guess I'm too left of centre.

Give truckmoves a call

They will pick up and drive it direct to delivery address

They may have to do a driver swap at border, but could be arranged

Cheers

Heck I thought this thread was about getting your nifty new truck to you [biggrin] With Grey nomads now very stuck on the other side of the boarder now its is likely to take a bit longer than hoped to see your new beast John.

A mate is now stuck in Darwin as WA is shutting down well as well as here.

I am trying a new therapy Dog. Mika hitch hiked with another pup from near Warnambool. Post a vet trip she decided a sleep was a good idea yesterday. Note I usually have no chance the kids are puppy hogs [thumbsupbig]

Companies mentioned in this thread are PrixCar, Webtow and Truckmoves. Does anyone know if they do Brisbane to Sydney?
Any other recommendations?
We have a camper trailer needs to go to a person in lockdown in the Cambelltown area.
I'll hit the phones tomorrow. Any suggestions appreciated.

The only problem is, to sterilise the vehicle properly they have to douse it in alcohol and set it alight. [bigwhistle]

They were recommended by Jawa Caravans at Caboolture, who use them a lot.
Tilta's Troy has quoted $880 Brisbane to Cambelltown, which is less than other numbers I have heard. Fully insured.
So that is looking good.

Why waste alcohol? I use Zoono at work once a month. Pretty good as it is non toxic and seems to have enough evidence. Add my 4 litre bottle of it into a little spray bottle used once a month is not making the company much money as it goes a long way[biggrin] I brought 8 litres!

We use it in our car/Disco before it comes back from work

A micro biologist I chatted with was a bit skeptical but I know she is using it[biggrin] Zoono Global – Next Level Germ Protection. (https://zoono.com/)

Why does the vehicle need sanitizing, when people are allowed to have physical contact across the plastic barriers, marking the Queensland-NSW border?

So I should stop slopping that expensive red label 33 OP Bundy around in my 130 every time I pull in the driveway?.[biggrin] Convenient that there a bottle beside the seat.

Nope
Probably the best thing you could do with the Bundy [emoji12]🤭
Next step is to get a bottle of Kimberley Rum Company - Backburn Canefire Rum, and start drinking (on ice, no mixers)🥳🥳

I need to move a rolling chassis to Ballarat from Canberra for a restoration. Was going to tow it down on a car trailer but Covid border restrictions have put that on hold. I have rung all the local car carriers and non are interested if the vehicle does not start. One did recommend a local tow company who have said they would take it on a tilt tray for $2300 all up. Now the normal price on a carrier is about $1200 from Melbourne to Canberra, maybe cheaper as a back load, so the quoted $2300 on a tilt tray is a lot more but then it is the only load they will have.

So any thoughts on this as I would obviously prefer to pay the least amount possible - also some aspects of this problem have been discussed in this thread so any updated thoughts would also be appreciated.

Thanks

Garry

I once got a Daihatsu Rocky that had failed to proceed in Broken Hill back to Dubbo on general freight, they loaded it with a forklift and I think it came back inside a tautliner. Might be worth asking some freight companies if you can get it delivered to a yard with a trailer at each end.

Thanks Tote - you highlight what I dont like about using general fright - the forklift - it will just cause too much damage and run the risk of the front end falling off.

No needs to go on and off on its own wheels.

Cheers

Is it possible for you to tow it to Albury, get a local tilt tray operator to take it across the border and get other party to pick it up from Wodonga and trailer it to Ballarat? Take a bit of arranging but would be cheaper than the tilt tray all the way.

Hi Roger - unfortunately we are in lockdown so if I leave home I cannot get back - I suppose I could sneak back in but is not the right thing to do - the local cops have been blocking all the rat runs.
