View Full Version : PeeWee Problems

Like many of areas of Aust I have Pee Wees living in my residential environment.

172765

As Pee Wees do, they crap all over my car and look at themselves in the rear vision mirrors and there is not much I can do about that other than park in the garage.

However I have a bigger problem with the windows of my house where the large glass doors open out the the verandah. All day long the Pee Wees come and land on the furniture, crapping all over the outdoor furniture and railings and constantly launching themselves at what I assume is their reflection in the glass doors - which they hit with a loud thud. This goes on all day and is becoming quite annoying.

Has anyone got a solution to chasing them away - used to be just one visit at 4.00pm but now is all day.

I was thinking of printing some of these up on A4 and sticking them on the inside of the glass in an effort in scaring them away but not sure.

Thooughts??

Thanks

Garry

Depending on your state rules regarding said bird species:

Thooughts??

Once upon a time I had ducks and chooks. And a veranda. The inevitable happened and they started following me back to the door. I made a life size cut out of the Swamp Harrier Hawk (which were plentiful in the area and preyed on both if possible) in light plywood and roughly painted it the same colour and suspended it under the veranda where the breeze made it move. End of problem from most of the birds.

The few that cottoned on ended up roasted or curried. [thumbsupbig]

I thought you had a small motorbike, with a problem.
Toy snakes, strategically placed, will deter the birds in double quick time.

Might attract kookies, too.

And they never seem to learn, they must have goldfish brains. [biggrin]
Rope, electric cable etc., works also.

I use them in the fruit trees to keep the 28s away
Just remember to move them every second day, they must see them as dead snakes if they stay in the same spot for too long [emoji481][emoji481]

No Pee Wees here, only Magpies crapping, but don't mind them as the keep sparrows and Indian minor birds away. The cockatoos are a problem, one used to land at the kitchen window and look in and watch us.
Then the pervert would start ripping timber off our window. When in the mood the maggies would have a melee with cockys. We've had plovers and ducks in the back yard after heavy rain and it get pools of water. The Kookaburras had their eyes on BBQs when we used to have them.

Hahaha! I thought the same thing, when I saw the heading.
I may be wrong here, but I reckon a Pee Wee motorcycle might have a problem, if Tombie was on it![bigsmile1]

We have a couple that visit to PU the biscuits crumbs the dog leaves after eating his breakfast , they are OK don't leave any calling cards but gecko's do , they must be getting plenty to eat because it is everywhere.:angry2:
Have a couple of Swallows that keep coming back to nest in the garage each year they make a mess on the cars , have now hung a plastic Owls above the cars seams to have worked so far .[bigsmile1]

Yes,same here, bloody geckos drop messages onto things consistently[bigsad]

Oh,and fruit bats, they must be flying around and decide our place is the go[bigsad].

Got rid of a few huge palms a couple of years ago, that reduced but didn’t eliminate the bat problem.

Oh,and Bush Turkeys, they appear this time of year every year and destroy our garden. When the dog was a bit younger she had them well and truely sorted, but she is getting on a bit and isn’t as interested in them anymore.

We have had a lot of success by placing mirrors around.

The Mudlarks around our place usually attack the windows from a convenient perch, so we have placed a mirror in the line of sight, usually on the fence etc.
something like this, Estilo 450mm x 600mm Diamond Edge Mirror - Bunnings Australia (https://www.bunnings.com.au/estilo-450mm-x-600mm-diamond-edge-mirror_p1730204).

Once they notice the better reflection they start attacking that and usually change their attacking perch. Then they can leave their calling card on the lawn etc.

The mirrors seem to attract crows and magpies which then deter the Indian minors.

Cheers Glen

OK thanks to every one who was able to focus on Pee Wees and not Tombie's waist - hmmm maybe some people need a room [bigrolf].

Any way - going to try the rubber snakes on the rails (not sure where to get the snakes - maybe a toy shop), the bird mobile that Tote suggested and the angry faces on the windows.

I will let you know how I go.

Thanks

Phase 1

The faces are where the bird attacks - have more on the other windows and doors.

Lockdown starts in one hour so cannot get to the Toy Store or Bunnings to get rubber snakes and fake hawks. These will be phase 2 and 3 as appropriate.

From a distance those faces with the diagonal lines look like targets. X marks the spot

Well it has been three days since I put the Angry Faces up and the Pee Wees have gone [thumbsupbig]. No attacks, where I was getting two or three a day before putting angry face up.
