Seems you can eat the deadly cane toad, just like the puffer fish, it's in the preparation.
No thank you on both for me.

Eating cane toads a win-win solution for all, says academic - ABC News (https://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-11-11/academic-wants-us-to-eat-cane-toads/5882986)

Wouldn't be the first to lick a cane toad to see what high you get... I know more than 1 who have done it.

Crows have learned how to kill cane toads, then turn them over and eat the belly, all while avoiding the toxic glands.

There're some desperate people out there. I heard of one fellow who suffocated himself, trying to get high inhaling OPAL fuel.

Our resident Kookies have learnt to do the same. A big plus for us here, is that there are Keelback snakes around the dam area.

As for eating toad, I wonder if 'Cuisses de Crapaud' would be discernable from 'Cuisses de Grenouilles'?

I once hit one or two with my mower hiding in long grass under the fence rail.
I later wiped my sweat after emptying the catcher and my lips went numb for several hours.
That venom is pretty toxic stuff, so you would have to be VERY careful , particularly seeing that when stressed they exude it from their neck/back.
I much prefer their sports potential, particularly after storm slalom, and golf.

One of our dogs got as high as a kite just sniffing a cane toad once , Vet said it gives them same symptoms as being on LSD , she was pretty out of it for about 24 hours.[bighmmm] The 1st dog we would let out in the yard during the day when we were at work , if were late getting home to bring her in side she would always get a toad , we had her to the vets so many times after getting cane toads he felt sorry for us & gave us a discount.

Get a good feed of them if it can be done, French would go nuts for them.

Dogs can build up an immunity to the toxin and an addiction/ habbit/craving.

I watched a bit of a doco on 9rush where crocs being found dead with no obvious cause. In a field autopsy on the croc they found a dead rat in the croc's stomach. They then autopsied the rat to find fragments of cane toads in the rats stomach. The rats didn't die from eating cane toads but the poison in the rat killed the crocs that feed on them.

The good wife and I have an idea that I may have tried cockroach. We can't remember where, though. I've tried spider, but don't recall the flavour.
What a memory I have!

I'm wondering myself, thinking of crunchy bar snacks in Bangkok in 1979......
