Hi all, need some help fixing my keyless entry.
The car is a 2003 Discovery 2a.

The car is new to me never has the remote worked.
What I have done so far.
Central locking works, and car can be started with EKA code.

1.Checked battery voltage on car and remote battery.
2. Checked fob at the landrover dealer its producing a 433mhz signal.
3. Changed reciever with one from the Land rover wreckers.
4. Tried to reprogram the key to the BCU can not get it to read the key press.
5. The RF signal test with the nanocom fails does not see the key.
6. Earth is good on the reciever.

Where do I start looking next?
Thanks.

Look on this link here you might have to upgrade the software for the nanocom to 1.36b also look on the nanocom forums.
Nanocom programmable fobs? Where to source? (https://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-2-a/287103-nanocom-programmable-fobs-where-source.html)

Yeah both same numbers on the sticker on the reciever.
I don't know if there a bench test way to see if the reciever is working or not.
Ordered a new key to see if that helps or not.

I used an rtl-sdr dongle on the computer to verify the frequency of my fobs and to confirm they were transmitting a signal.

Can you transfer this into layman's terms for those of us not so computer savy?

It's basically a plug in USB radio receiver.

About RTL-SDR (https://www.rtl-sdr.com/about-rtl-sdr/)

What is RTL-SDR? RTL-SDR is a very cheap ~$25 USB dongle (https://www.rtl-sdr.com/buy-rtl-sdr-dvb-t-dongles/) that can be used as a computer based radio scanner for receiving live radio signals in your area (no internet required). Depending on the particular model it could receive frequencies from 500 kHz up to 1.75 GHz. Most software for the RTL-SDR is also community developed, and provided free of charge.

Fixed, should have followed the kiss principle. Keep ⁴it simple stupid, it ended up being a corroded fuse in the engine bay it's all working now. Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

Got a new key (433MHz) a week ago from Aussieremotes fleabay site, was getting ready to send it back to them after having issues with the sync and no luck on the key detect, saw this post and just went out and checked the firmware on the Evo which was 1.35.
Updated to 1.36b and it programmed first go!

Its odd though, in V1.35 I wrote the new key over the top of the original and it sync'd but wouldn't detect, I then tried to write the original key into slot 2 and it wouldn't detect either.
I then wrote the original key back into slot1 and it sync'd and detected perfectly... [wink11]

I've also noticed the touch senstivity of the screen is far better with this V1.36b update as well and Ive got the original Evo which has always been a bit hard to get a response on the keypress.

Cheers
Andrew
