Hi All, I've had my 2021 110 SE for a couple of months and I just it fitted with the expedition roof rack. The wind noise from the rack is terrible. Does anyone have the same issue, is there a solution anyone has found.
thanks,

When I put a Front Runner rack on my D4 the noise was unbearable. I discovered the installer had not fitted a little wind deflector that was meant to be underneath and near the front. "You don't need it" he said. I insisted it was installed and the difference was amazing. Almost silent. Perhaps you could check if something is missing.

Take the kids off the roof rack and let them sit inside. It should reduce wind resistance.[wink11]

Mate got the expedition roof rack as well and yeah the noise is quite bad from 80km onwards.

Not much I can do about it, I found that when I had some items on the rack, cross wind noise wasn't as bad.

That’s one of the issues with a new Defender (compared to an old one).

The new one is very quiet - so you tend to hear everything. Strange but true.

Drive any old Defender, Series, Perentie, 101 - you don’t hear these noises. Lol - you can’t hear anything over the general racket.

(Yes - I have all of the above)

Cheers,
GG

Just bought my defender with a folding fabric roof and a roof rack... Not a good combo :-(
So much noise! So much vibration.. Looking to see if i can get some sort of wind deflector..

Whilst I don’t think the fabric roof is the issue with the rack - the fabric roof would allow more of the rack noise to penetrate the cabin from the rack. The rack is the issue but the fabric roof exacerbates the noise
