So you buy a new mattress,
You leave it propped up outside against the picnic bench to air out after being in storage.
You look out the kitchen window and see the local tom cat walking across the yard stopping to mark his territory...on your new mattress.

When we moved into the area we are still in we had a problem with the roaming cats spraying everything outside. So much of a problem the grass was dying under the shrubs they sprayed on. Stunk too. My new vege garden became a cat toilet until I bought and used a motion activated water sprinkler. Worked well.

I still need to use it sometimes for the cats.

The last couple of years it has seen good use on the Halloween evenings strategically placed behind the hydrangea such that anyone straying beyond the immediate vicinity of our front door gets a spray... The careful ones get to the front door dry, the ones that meander on our driveway do not... funny seeing the nurses, goblins, witches, vampires, ballerinas, spongebobs, fairies and even a poo-emoji one all suddenly squeal and rush back down the driveway... of course they are all on a sugar-rush hyper-spook and so the squeal hysteria spreads and the dry ones also rush into the spray (fray)... the only time it was ineffective was when it was raining one evening and everyone had umbrellas...

Hmmm, motion activated sprinkler to keep the mattress dry. Remind me again, which one of you comes from Ireland? [tonguewink]

Scottish ancestry here (at least the documented side is).

So long as the mattress doesn't move it should be OK... :whistling:

I was once told the only solution to pollution is dilution... consider it dilution if the cat appears...

We have a male cat that was desexed at 2yo, still ****es on everything in sight. He has even balanced himself on top of the toaster, in my wifes open handbag and even on the back of my legs while i was in the toilet have a wee ! If he wasn't cute he'd be dead 'by now.

I used to have a black oriental male neutered cat , which we took over when my daughter got a new boyfriend now husband.
Every time he came over the cat would spray on the couch where the boyfriend had sat.
Can cats be jealous? I think so.

It is always sprinkler night at our place on Halloween night [bigrolf] Had a little bugger kick me in the shin when we didn't know it was Halloween & didn't have anything to give him :firedevil:

The resident possum, a nasty type, keeps the cats away.
