I need some help with my 2011 Range Rover and I hope someone in this forum can help. When IÂ’m parked in our garage, there isnÂ’t enough room on the passengers side to enter the vehicle, so I reverse out, then my wife attempts to open the front passengers door, but finds it locked. IÂ’m at loss as to why this is happening, and to make matters worse, it happens intermittently. My wife always has her smart key in her purse, but not sure if thatÂ’s impacting on the issue. What I have noticed is that even though the door is locked, the latch on the inside is at the unlocked position.
Hopefully someone here can help and thanks in advance.

Hi, I know nothing of you vehicle, but I am surmising that on the occasions that the door "locks" you have the engine running.
And when it is "unlocked" the engine is off.
The door is always open from the inside when the button is up, but prevents intruders from entering the vehicle when motor is running.
Just a guess.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, in the situation I outlined, the ignition is always on. So it’s intermittently locking the passenger out when the motor is running. I then press the unlock button on my smart key and the horn sounds twice, and the passengers door unlocks.

Ok, looks like IÂ’ve solved the issue. The intermittent locking of the passengerÂ’s door is caused by the presence of a second RR smart key. Just to refresh, I reverse out of our garage and keep the motor running. My wife tries to enter the front passengerÂ’s side, but finds it locked around 50% of the time. I suspected that the presence of a second RR smart key was the culprit and it looks like the position of her mobile phone in her handbag caused the issue to occur intermittently. Below are the three scenarios:

1. If she carries her RR smart key and mobile phone in her handbag, the passengerÂ’s door locks her out around 50% of the time.
2. If she carries her RR smart key in her handbag, but not her mobile phone, the passengerÂ’s door locks her out 100% of the time.
3. If she has her mobile phone but doesnÂ’t carry her RR smart key with her, the passengerÂ’s door remains unlocked 100% of the time.
I did read somewhere that mobile phones can interfere with smart keys, so I think that explains why the issue was occurring intermittently.
Hope all that makes sense!
