I am putting a new gearbox in the black disco this week. Also want to finish the last of panels and mounting points for high lift and tools. If It's finished then I may be out there for the day, Big maybe.

Mate I would say yes that would be a problem, check with Outlaw but for GCLRO trips you generally have to be a member and also have done the driver training so that there is an idea of skill level, recovery points on vehicle etc.

Can I come? Please?
I'm pretty sure I want to join the GCLRO Club if that helps.
And I did live on the GC for 19 years.
I haven't done a driver awareness course but I'm hoping a few guys (Mick, Trav etc) could vouch for my level of sensibility...
I realise it's short notice for a 'ring-in' so call me on 0418 75 3131
Thanks,
Hardy

Maybe I should have stayed home .I broke a half shaft early in the day so I got an early mark and went home.( not bad for a 21year old shaft coping with big tyres and a maxi drive for the last 10 ) Up to then it was a good day even though the trip leader was AWOL. Must go back another day and play.

Hopefully our trip leader who turned up 5 hrs late will post some pics.:D
I'm afraid to say that this Ipswich trip actualy turned in the first GCLRO Ding Tally Trial with all 7 of the vehicles attending all coming away with some damage :eek:. Photo evidence should be up shortly.
Obviously at some point everyone realised our first AGM is coming up shortly and we didn't have too many entries to date... all fixed now though
Unfortunately the one to come away with the most extensive damage is not actually a member so can't count towards the awards... hey Hardy :p

Great trip although Dranged and I stood around BP coomera for 20mins waiting for our trip leader to arrive and didn't:clap2: . not to mention any names (thanks Camo). Still good day out and I dont think I got us to lost from Blacksoil to 1st play area.
Ding tally:wasntme: - mine was minor although - 33" tyres meet new front bar - round one and 33" tyres win with new bar in for trip back to Glens to cut, shortend and re-fit for round 2 at coffs.
P.S Very happy with disco now and must say - now weapon off road will post pics once the front bar has been sorted after this weekend.

SO SORRY GUYS! but I must say I did text Outlaw the night before. Right after him and Masayo got home from the Ballet in Brisbane to be exact.
Text message as follows 'Hey mate. Me need sleep bad. Will be a couple of hours behind ya tomorrow. Call ya on way'
As you can see it :wasntme: that was at fault here :D
Glad everyone had a blast anyways.
I will get out of bed for the next run (hopefully not blinkin 8am sunday morning! its hard for the ones that work 6 days!)

So wheres the trip report on how the damage was done  , geez Hardy hope the insurance is in place :o . Maybe I should get a Defender now :D. What was major cause of damage ie the tracks, slippery, not enough space? Looks like Ill be knocked out of the running now for the Ding tally :(

All the above Stevo... tricky tracks, those damn jumping trees that have a habit of moving on you, slippery bits... just a range of things...
Great thing about this area though is that there are easy tracks for stock vehicles to be able to go where we go, or can choose the tougher options so is completely up to the individual driver to determine if they're capable or not. ;)
All fun and games
and yes you should get a defender... the GCLRO Defender Brotherhood is growing and will start having it's own get-togethers shortly

No I'm not a member, so I suppose my panel damage is categorised as a "Ring-In-Ding"
Here is a picture although it's much noicer in real life...

err a dunno about getting a defender.. if you are after a decent 4x4 you seriously can't go past a Rangy (any sort) or second best a D2 Disco. But a Defender..geez they are bumpy and noisey and as aerodynamic as a carton of beer with wheels on it. But thats what I think (little bias since I own a Classic):p
So wheres the trip report on how the damage was done .Stevo.
Outlaw will have that done soon.:D
I think most damage was done by stupidity & wreckless driving. Josh knew the tree was there and Harry even told him that he will hit..but no..he still had to do it! I can't talk. I turned sideways on a hill and rear tyre slid into a rut and smashed the **** end into a bank (on same hill josh hit his roof on)
Can't wait to get back out there again soon since I missed out on half of the day hehe

Ill be out for the next one, most likely in the new set of wheels, whatever that maybe :D . Im getting the rear done on the D3 in a cuppla weeks, so at this stage wouldnt want to add to the ding tally. Thanks for the pics, vids and story guys, just gets me chomping at the bit for the next off road adventure.

Annette and I had a fantastic day watching all the excitement over a coffee in the bush. Harry lost a LHR bar end as well, My Rangie was parked up so appears that I was the only one with no damage. Camo I had the pressure of driving the Tree line 110 home for some mods. hehe it will end up a rangie by the time I finish with it. Have all the replacement panels ready.:wasntme:

God if I only had my bloody magnet on a stick. I got the car onto the hoist today and stripped it down and the broken piece of stub axle fell out of the CV joint. It would have come out no problem oh well.
Now Harry never did tell us how he very nearly put the disco on its roof. $20 he was right footing it on those ruts and it jumped out and the back stayed in and put him sideways?????.
Good to see everyone had an interesting time. My broken stub axle has taken a back seat to Hardys door reshaping.
Bring on Coffs harbour.

i wasn't going to talk about that.
um er, no right foot, it was puttering along and i decided to avoid the ruts and put all wheels on the high bit.
well wouldn't you know it, the back slipped down into the rut and the front decided to climb the bank, before i realised it the thing was looking askew and as i had been distracted by something in the car, i found myself getting teetery, and brought it to a stop as you saw.
thats why i needed an observer, 'cause the last bit i actually missed and didn't quite know how to reverse the situation - it felt like the whole lot was on its way but got stopped by the back bar. i was really thinking that a rope was necessary to stop it going further. a ute conversion came to mind as i thought about the damage.
thanks for your assistance, josh and justin, and others -didn't know who, i could only see feet.
