I've noticed that of all the hundreds or even thousands of people on this forum who claim to have Series 1s, it's mostly the same handful of people that are prepared to give help.
Just something I've noticed.

Just because you own a Series I doesn't mean you have knowledge to share.
Your reply regarding wiper blades/arms for example. I purchased a set of blades for my Series I (Four Wheel Drives) 14 years ago and have fitted inserts since, that's almost the limit of my wiper blade/arm experience. I've since found out it should have flat blades and found a source in the UK if I wish to fit the correct ones.

If you've been working on Series I's for years you probably have a lot more knowledge to share. If you've had a particular problem and had to research to solve it you are probably more knowledgeable on that subject.

'Help' from people with limited knowledge is always a worry.
If you see something in a thread that's not correct (or even dangerous) do you just leave it ? Anyone else then reading it believes it's correct.

There's pedantic and making sure information on the forum is correct, not misleading. With the value of Series I's being very dependent on originality there's also the fact that Series I owners are possibly more anal than most !

The other problem is that the typed word can come across as harsh, every reader may take the context differently.

As BSF points out, there are some very knowledgeable people on AULRO who are always willing to provide information, recommend suppliers or even sell or gift parts.
I've been helped with questions I've posted many times and also been corrected on a few occasions !

AULRO is a fantastic resource so if you have knowledge why not share it and if you see something posted that's not correct then you should post the correct information (but maybe consider how the words you use might be received).

Well, unfortunately there are plenty of builds on here which are simple death traps or/ and a waste of an otherwise great project for someone else with more talent, technical understanding and most of all realistic budget.
As I mentioned in another thread, lots of LR's had their reliability killed by their owners 'enhancements'. Not saying there isn't a great level of knowledge around but I prefer to check someone else's work before taking their advice.
