My screen shows a red battery symbol with the words "star engine or system will shut down in 3 minutes". I checked the battery its at 12.5 V and the alternator charging at 14.5V. Any thoughts before changing out the battery.

Do you do a lot of short drives in the Freelander without doing any longish drives? Our FL2 usually just goes 7km to the wifes work in the morning and 7km home. I sometimes, every other month or so charge the battery overnight just to keep is topped up.

If your battery is coming to the end of its life it may have the right voltage but might be down on capacity. I'm sure any battery store or even Supercheap could test the battery for you.

I put a Delcor battery in our FL2 a year a so ago cause I really liked the 3 year full replacement (not pro-rata) warranty.
