D2a Td5 has just developed a "miss" (rough idle, rough running) in last 100 k's out bush.
Plugged in Nanocom and get message "injector 4 open circuit detected".

Still on original injector harness and injectors, no signs of oil running down harness to ECU.
This problem came on suddenly in course of an afternoon.
Where should I start looking for source of rough idle?

Probably the injector loom, especially if it's original.

Probably the injector loom, especially if it's original.

I was hoping that might be all it is, and I have a new loom sitting in my spare parts, so that will be first cab off the rank for change.
I'm 1000k's from nearest LR workshop, so it is a DIY option for first aid (and keep lots of spares).

Hi had this same scenario about 3 years ago..Use the Nanocom and fire the injectors one at a time in a quiet environment...listen for the click as it fires...if you find one that doesn’t fire swap over the connector from one that does fire and see if works, this will tell you if it’s the injector coil or the harness, for me I had an open circuit solenoid on top of the injector, replacing the coil fixed mine, got the coil from a used injector that didn’t look to good at the squirt end. I haven’t had any more problems since, or find a decent second hand complete injector. I only had 145k on the clock when this happened to my Disco!!

In the scan I did before the "open ciucuit detected" message, I had a message saying "number 4 injector staying on longer" (or something to that effect), so it may well be that something "electrical" on number 4 injector has died and it now registers as an "open circuit". No TD5's hearabouts so will likely be chasing up some injector spares to sort the problem.

Changed out the injector harness (which looked perfect and nil oil leaks or such), and the problem seems to have gone.
Back to running smoothly.
Glad it wasn't injector issue at least.
Thanks for responses.
