We currently offer Land Rover Extended Warranty Insurance underwritten by Allianz Australia Insurance Ltd, so you can select a 1 or 2 year extension to continue protecting your vehicle with the same benefits provided under your New Vehicle Warranty.
We’re also writing to inform you that Allianz will soon be altering their insurance offering and underwriting of the Extended Warranty Insurance. As a result the existing Land Rover Extended Warranty Insurance program to extend your New Vehicle Warranty will cease to be offered from 5 October 2021. There are no immediate plans by the underwriter Allianz Australia Insurance Ltd to replace this offering.
BENEFITS OF LAND ROVER EXTENDED WARRANTY INSURANCE

Provides the same protection that you receive in the first three years /100,000kms of Land Rover Ownership — with no exceptions.
Choose from a 1 or 2 year warranty extension, depending on how long you’re planning to keep your current vehicle.
Receive 24-hour Land Rover Assistance for the remainder of your original factory warranty period, and the whole of your extended warranty term.

My Three-year warranty expires in March 2022, but it looks that if I want to act, I need to do it now as far as the LR product is concerned. My quoted Two-year 100,000 km extension will cost about $4800.

Some of the possible major issues could possibly be covered under Australian Consumer Law rights and remedies, but it wouldn’t take long to rack up the cost in case of a major issue, or a long-distance recovery.

I’ve had a quick look at other policies, but most appear to have major limited benefit caps.

I’ve had 4 Land Rovers over the past 30 years and never had any significant issues with any of them, but The D5 scares me a little with all its computer controls that I’m locked out off.

Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

Might be worth talking to your dealer.

I think there is a bit of mark up in there - they might give you a bit of a discount.

Thinking of the same in about a year.

My MY18 SD4 was sold with a 5 year warranty that has paid for itself a few times over. That said, warranty does not excuse one from having to deal with dealer ineptness and JLR disregard for customers.

It was a few years ago,but i took the extended warranty out on the last D2a i had, and the couple of issues were repaired by my local Indie, and billed drectly to the insurance company,Allianz.

Their comment was they would rather go this way than deal with JLR.

No surprise there.....

What's more worrying here is that Allianz are no longer offering extended insurance on LR's. The subtext being that the actuarials no longer work for them. Will be interesting to see if another underwriter picks up the slack.

I have current quotes for 3 year extended warranty for my D5 HSE SD4 (45,000km) that round out at approximately $100 / month for the tree year period. These quotes are from Eric insurance and Australia Warranty Network (AWN). However costs can vary based on vehicle cost and risks. My D5 has low km and is receiving a crated new long motor; so risk would likely be low. The repair limit is to the market value of the vehicle. There is not a km limit applied, just the warranted time period and some other constraints including regular servicing.

I am aware that extended warranty insurance has undergone significant changes since the government introduced ‘ deferred sales model ‘ insurance legislation in late 2021. This legislation provided additional consumer protections and has resulted in several insurers exiting the market.

You might like to try AWN or Eric for competitive quotes. I understand they are the market leaders in this form of insurance.
