Very happy with the result. Roof vinyl wrapped to hide the terrible UV damaged roof. It's a 2005 D3 V8 that obviously was left out in the sun a lot by PO.
The bonnet decal is for the same reason but is also great for minimising late afternoon sun reflection into your eyes. The bonnet decal is from PowerfulUK but the roof wrap is a custom job by Exclusive Wraps in Brisbane. You can still see the roof damage through the vinyl but it’s sooo much better having it covered than seeing the wrecked clear coat and chalky paint.
The old girl is really starting to come along, also recent;y installed APT sliders with aluminium tread plate and a refurbished steering wheel has arrived (the old one looks and feels very ordinary, again heat related).

Very nice Scott, I like the shadow union jack in the roof wrap.

Looks great. Not something you would see very often.

Hmmm, looks interesting. How bad exactly was your roof? I'm thinking of doing the same to my roof as the clear coat is starting to peel up top.

Terrible. I don’t have a photo but peeled clear coat and chalky texture featured over much of the roof.

Did they remove more of the clear coat before the wrap went on? For my bonnet decal they clay barred the bonnet before applying to ensure it sticks properly and doesn't show any bumps.
Still easier than a respray, plus if you get sick of it you can always change the design.

Are the sliders functional enough to use as side steps?

Yep. Not as wide as the factory steps but still good.

And without the extra width, less likely to bend up which the steps do, damaging the door or preventing it opening.

Totally agree. Figured it was better to put money into sliders which can act as steps without any of the downsides if the steps.

That roof wrap is actually quite impressive. If it's not a rude question could you give me a rough idea of the $$$?

Obviously cheaper than a respray which I wouldn’t have thought would be too bad for a flat surface like the bonnet or roof.

That is actually a good price as the materials alone would be at least half that. Well worth it. [emoji106]

I'm assuming that's a recommendation for the Brisbane company Scott? I'm seriously considering getting my whole car wrapped, just to have a colour change, as I preferred my old Stornoway Grey D4 to the Ipanema Sand that I've currently got.

Yes, no affiliation & very happy to recommend. I did ask out of curiosity re full vehicle wrap and you’re looking at around $5k

Hi, I can see I'm a couple of years to late on this thread but hope someone can still answer my questions.
Scott's Discovery looks awesome , I can see the roof rail covers down each side . Is this something that's available in OZ . Here in the UK we don't have a version like this. Also the Antenna blanking plate, is this something available in OZ AS well, something else I can't find in the UK.
Many thanks

Roof rails (short and long form) were options on some models here…if you didn’t choose them the vehicle came with that aluminum strip (rubber covered) covering the in roof rivnuts.
Same story with the antenna cover.

Sorry, I don’t know. I’m sure a LR dealer would know.
I thought I may have the aluminium strips in the garage, but after 5 mins of searching realised my D4 came with long rails. (When I fitted the roofrack I remember pulling some bits off)

No probs, It seems the UK models all came with rails. They also all came with the shark fin Antenna even if the infotainment system wasn't specified. This is why I noticed them straight away , they give a nice neat clean look on the roof . Thanks for your help.

my old D3 has same roof issue with the clear coat, has a few other areas that need attention as well and went to a panel shop in Maryborough QLD to get a quote a few weeks ago, still waiting on that.
will try a couple of other places in Hervey Bay and see if I can find out how much its likely to be $$$$
My dash is also cracked badly from the sun though it is hiden by a dashmat, not sure if you can get a new dash top or not? I think it is too far gone to be refurbished.
Thought of pulling dash apart gives me the willies.

I got a quote of $2k to do the roof of a Volvo wagon. A bit of over-capitalise on a car I paid $200 for. My D3 is the same, with a flaking top coat and I'm tossing up between spray or wrap, so I'm keen to see what your quote comes out at.

When I picked up the RRS from Brisbane I was aware of some sun fade on the roof.
Already had plans for its repair upon getting the car back home.
Local Paint and Panel guy resprayed the entire roof of the vehicle and touched up a few parking scars.
Entire job was $1200 in 2K
So worth comparing both options.

I just had a quote to vinyl wrap my D4 roof at a local place:
“we could either wrap it in a clear paint protection film for $950 or colour of your choice for $650”
